AmandakRangel 0 Posted March 5, 2010 OMG that is amazing. I am in the opposite position - had gallbladder surgery 2.5 weeks ago and cannot exercise. So I have maintained at 186-187. Loveslady 0 Posted March 6, 2010 Amanda, I went to youtube and watched some of skymoon and you are right. She is an inspiration. I have realized that I have been taking advantage of the band and basically I have not done my part to ensure that I succeed. Yes, I have lost weight but that was because i can't take so much in anymore not really becasue of proper diet and exercise. I have reevaluated why I got the band and realize that I can do more. I won't lose 109 lbs in 8mths as she did but I am definitely confiedent that I can lose more that what I have. I am going to get a fill monday and I then I will be a new lapbander. I realized once I started getting hungry again that "hey, I haven't been hungry in a while" That's what made me realize the opportunity in which I had let slip away. I do not like being hungry. It stirs emotions and it makes me want to pick up anything and eat it. I mean anything.

travel 0 Posted March 10, 2010 6 months! It seems like I just had the band placed. So far no problems. I'll be traveling, so I'm not sure where I will get my third fill. Any of you familiar with the Bend, Oregon Center of Excellence? I hope that all September bandsters are continuing with great success. I would love to hear you stories. And thanks to those of you that continue to post! There is always something to learn, like the chewing technique that Dewberry posted. Anita
Loveslady 0 Posted March 11, 2010 Anita, it is hard to believe tha 6 months are here ALREADY!!! My official day is the 17th and I am trying to make 60 pounds in 6mths I have 2 more ponds to go so hopefully I just may be over the 60 by the 17th. I have a renewed sense of control now that I know how I have been mistreating my band. I'm now actually counting calories more. That has cause me to lose 5 pounds in like a week. I took amanda and skymoons advice and am now trying to keep it under 900 calories per day. Along with exercise and that keeps it really really low. By the end of this month I really want to be in the low 220's. Wish me luck. I'll wishing everyone luck as well. Sorry Anita I know nothing or bend oregon. travel 0 Posted March 11, 2010 My thinking is that slower weight loss is better. I did hope to be at a lower weight by now, but I'm still going through a phase of not logging food and exercise, so I don't know how many calories I'm getting in a day, or how many I'm burning. Today, I'll start logging again! I still have a gallbladder, and I don't want it acting up! We knew the band would probably be a slower weight loss initially, and I think it is important to remember that this is a new lifestyle, with changes not happening overnight. 6 months is not that much time to change. One way to think of the journey is that it takes four years of college to earn a BA. Maybe if we think in those terms of 4 years to learn and accept why we got the band, and reward ourselves with a degree (or some great reward) in four years. Any ideas of group rewards for us? What about a meet and greet to a certain destination like vegas or something like that?
travel 0 Posted March 12, 2010 A meet and greet would be great. Another idea is a retreat type get together. Like where Vitalady is, or isn't there a yearly bariatric meeting?
Loveslady 0 Posted March 13, 2010 Sounds good ladies. Just let me know sooner than later cause the poor banders have to save up. lol. I really like the sound of the retreat. I have lost 4 pounds this week. I don't write down the calories or exercise but I do make a mental note and make sure I don't exceed my challenge. Next week I'm going to eliminate most of my carbs. I love to eat carbs.
hmarko 0 Posted March 14, 2010 Happy 6 month anniversary ladies!!! Retreat would be cool. Money though is the reality! Then again there are always miles.
smallerj 2 Posted March 14, 2010 Hey there everyone, This week marks 2 milestones for me 6 mo post op and 1 year since I started this journey. I have my orientation on St Pattys last year. Even though I'm not where I want to be I think about the fact that in one year I've loss about 35 lbs no way could I have done this and kept if off without the band. I went in the other day and got my 2nd fill I'm up to 5 cc's now. I was up 2 lbs not really doing what I was supposed to do. I feel some restriction I just need to listen to my band and not over do it. Wish me luck. I have a mini goal of another 10 lbs by mothers day. I've been really trying to stick to 1/2 cup and get my exercise in. Oh a retreat would be fun I'll look forward to hearing more. Take care, hope everyone is making healthy choices.:wink2:
AmandakRangel 0 Posted March 22, 2010 Had a mini vacation last week so I didn't make the best of choices, but now I'm back to exercising and eating better, hope everyone is doing ok.

kimberlyann2009 0 Posted March 27, 2010 6 months---wow where does the time go. I am 32 pounds down, but like some of you, I am not doing everything I can to "work the band"...but ya know, after a lifetime (it seems) of "dieting...watching what I eat...etc" I am tired of it. LOL But the weight is coming off, slowly...but it is! I have only had two fills, and am not at the proper restriction, but I keep putting off getting another one...I KNOW I could do more...but I kinda like the fact that I don't have to do alot of WORK.. Hmmm...maybe I do need to re-evaluate this I would love a meet and greet...keeping you all in my thoughts.. Love to you all KImberly
