I have been stuck for 2 weeks! Went for my monthly visit and I have been at my sweet spot but I don't feel like i have been the last two weeks (and PMS wreaking havoc)... he ended up doing a tiny fill .1 cc. I'm flying in a couple of weeks to the middle of nowhere in northern germany so I'm not into having any issues! i have a feeling this is a hungry pms (sometimes they are tight pms's).

What a drag! Hope this tiny fill helps!

Hi Ladies,

I am happy to report I reached 45 lbs lost and out of the 190s today!

I am totally at my sweet spot again. This is perfect. No problems eating, but not hungry, not thinking about food at all. Hope it sticks for a while!

Is everyone doing well? I need to go back and read the old threads!

By the way, is the other September thread active or is this the main one?

Hi Gen - I think this is the main one because we all get email notifications if anyone posts here whereas the other one no one really checks it. I put up a spreadsheet on google of all our stats - can't remember if you updated it or not. Ah just checked it you found it.

I think the little .1 cc is helping. I'm still on mushies and not starving. For the life of me i have no clue when I had my last TOM its making me nuts. I was keeping track on my calendar and sometimes on livestrong diary I would comment but i haven't. I wonder if it is possible that I am totally skipping my period this month or something. This happen to anyone? I am 45. I've totally had cramps it just isn't coming. weird.

I went for my 5th fill today. They gave me .7 which brings me up to 7.4 in my 10cc band, sure hope it gets Mr. scale moving downward again!

How's everyone doing?

I will update my info on the spreadsheet when I get home, my workplace has google docs blocked :rolleyes2:

47 lbs is awesome, what size band do you have, how much fill? Congrats!

Sorry for the delay, just seeing this.

I was banded with a 7cc band that holds up to 10cc according to the doctor.

I have had three fills. The first was 2 cc, the second was 2 cc and then the third was 1 cc. I was too tight at 5cc total so went back after two weeks and had .5 cc removed.

For a total of 4.5 cc currently. I have plenty of restriction right now and continue to lose consistently. YAY!!!

Hi Chapamar -looks like great progress. When you say you have plenty of restriction, do you mean that you are not hungry or that you risk food getting stuck? I can get food stuck fairly easily, but find that I am eating non-sticking foods all day and am hungry more often. I currently hae 4.5 cc in my 10cc band also. I go in next week for a fill with hopes that it will help me be less hungry like I was after surgery.

I'm a little too tight if anything. I have hunger but not badly and it's at times when I should eat. I find myself wanting food and going to great lengths to cook or get the exact thing I'm craving and then usually about 10 bites in I am DONE. Can't eat much at all. For instance last night I had a 5 oz. steak. I ended up eating a quarter of it. And couldn't eat any of the salad or vegetables.

I'm very quick to PB right now too because of the restriction so I take it nice and slow. I am really loving bisque and Soups right now. They are perfect.

So, I guess the hunger is normal and the restriction is on the tighter side. But, I'm being very careful with that and it seems to be getting better everyday.

Hi everyone:

I haven't seen this thread for a while. It looks like everyone is doing pretty good. It seems like we are all reaching our "sweet spot" or are almost there. Unfortunately I still feel like I am dieting.

Amanda, I am so sorry that someone gave you a hard time when you were so nice to put yourself out there.

Are you all happy you got your band? I have my bad days about this.

Everyone looks like they are doing a good job. I know it is hard not to compare yourself to others (I know I do) but I think as a group we are going to make it.

Good luck on your trip. I lurk more than post; but, your support is always with me.

Thanks again for including me on the ride.

There are days when I am not sure about the band. I too feel like I am dieting, and the weight has just not been coming off like I had hoped. I read here more than I post too, and the support is wonderful, but I too compare myself to all of you and then feel as if this is not working for me.

I have had two fills and feel like I have very little restriction. I get hungry alot and can eat quite a bit, have very little issues with getting "stuck". Since my second fill, I feel even less restriction. The 22 or so pounds I have lost were almost all pre and post op. I lose a few and than gain a few... Maybe I need another fill?

Good luck to all of you, it sounds like everyone is doing GREAT!

Love to all

K~

I have that problem too! I have had to bad plateaus, one lasted a month and this last one two weeks and I get so frustrated. Plateaus are when I know I would have quit if not for my band. So I know I am doing better with it than without it.

Just a thought:Nawlinzlady and kimberlyann. I am older than you guys but we are still not the 20 30 year olds. Do you think that may have something to do with it? I don't what to think this and I do not give in to age as an excuse but I think I am starting to notice a little trend here.

There are people that are not young ( you notice I didn't say older) that are doing great so I don't want to use this as a excuse.

What do you guys think?

Any other not youngsters having a little more problems but still following the program?

Pickles I really do think that my age has alot to do with my slower weightloss and i think age coupled with a low BMI to start with is making it a slower journey for me.

I was voicing my frustration at my slow weightloss to my NP. First, she reminded me that I am very early in my journey, just beginning actually. Then she told me a story about two of her patients who are sisters. One started at a low BMI (like me), the other started at a higher BMI. The higher BMI sister lost weight much quicker than the other and even passed her up. The lower BMI sister did get there, but for some reason her losses were less and happened a little slower. Bottom line, I am going to have to be patient and be content with slower progress, I will get to my goal.

So yes, I definately think age and BMI effect the speed of weightloss :scared2:

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
