Totally feel like this!!!! It is awesome! I had the slightest feeling of hunger about noon, had a little super thin oatmeal (I am on pureed liquids), and that was it for the afternoon. Small Protein Shake for Breakfast (150 cals) and oatmeal for lunch (about 200 cals?) and I am good till dinner. I know it won't last, but for now it is SO COOL!!!!

I even bought some awesome looking cinnamon rolls for my family at the store today without drooling or ripping open the package the minute I got home. It was like, yeah, okay, cinnamon rolls, so what? Imagine that. :)

I guess every doctor is different, but how can you be doing oatmeal already. I have to be on full liquids for 10 days.

I am still having some shoulder pain, but I don't think its' gas anymore. Went to my chiropractor today, and that helped a lot! One of my incision sites is looking a little infected, so I'm trying to head that off at the pass. Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good!!

Day 4 post-op: I'm moving around well. Maybe a little slow. I feel like if I walk to fast or do any abrupt movements I could open one of the incisions. School started, so I had a 9am class this morning. I found it hard to sit through the entire three hours. The desk was right were one of the incisions was. Thank God he let us out early.. I then went to my dentist office where I had a temporary crown re-cemented.. My stomach was growling something awful. I didn't drink my shake when I left the house. I calmed it down with a little Isopure mixed with Sugarfree Kool-Aid. I stopped at rite aid and picked up some colace and more GasX. This is gross but, I haven't had a bowel movement since before the surgery.. Is that normal?

But, As you can see I'm feeling okay and driving out and about. I must admit I feel a little tired. I'm going to take my Vitamins and a Protein shake.. mmm maybe s sugar-free iced coffee..yummy :)

I am so glad you asked about not having a BM since before surgery!!! I havent either so am curious about others. Even though we have had only liquids, I would think that we should still be having liquid BM's. Sorry, i know that is TMI!!!:)
My instructions say that diarrhea is very normal, and Constipation common. It says to make sure and get your fluids in, and plenty of exercise. The instructions go on to say that I may try Milk of Magnesia. My nutritionist says to start a laxative before surgery to help after surgery. She suggests benefiber. My mom had some Miralax, which she said would also be okay, so I'm borrowing some of that. There must be a thread on this topic, and how many days one has gone before a bm. a poll, maybe!

I took Miralax for the same problem last night and had a BM this morning. Felt alot better afterwards.:smile2:

Get banded and come back having to read up about 10 pages...LOL everyone is post post post...LOVE IT.

I am so glad to hear that most of the post banders are doing good.

My surgery was yesterday and it went well. The hospital staff was great from the admission person to the person that walked me out this AM.

I am so glad I did this.

I did not have really any gas pain. I am bloated, period started this AM, which I knew it was coming. Been taking Maalox and Liquid Tylenol. No Pain meds. I did have Morphine when they got me into recovery and then a pain med last night just to help me sleep.< /p>

Really for all of you out there worried. It really is not bad. I got up and walked around as soon as they would let me. That helped. Also I have remained positive and upbeat about all of it. And kept my sense of humor as best as I can. They say laughter is the best medicine right. :)

I am pretty tired. I did not sleep well the night before surgery and then last night went to bed around Midnight and was up at 4 am for a few hours, went back to bed around 6 am, they came in just as I drifted off at 6:30 AM then slept till about 8 am. Then I met with the surgeons nurse who gave me all my paperwork and was discharged by 10 AM.

I wish like most I would have done this so much sooner.

My post op diet is:

2 weeks - Clear Liquids only. Isopure makes clear liquid drink with 40 grams of Protein in them I got them for my meals and then the rest of the day is Water, crystal light type drinks, anything clear.

2 weeks - Full liquids - all the ones from the first two weeks but now can add milk, cream Soups, anything more heavy and not see through but can't chew. Yogurt, pudding, Protein Shakes.< /p>

2 weeks - Soft/Mushy - eggs, tuna, Broiled chicken, Fish, Deli meat, only 2 to 3 oz with again all the stuff from prior weeks to help me out till my first fill that should be at the end of the soft phase.

Again so glad to hear everyone is doing well. Everyone going in coming up...remember stay positive, get up and and start moving as soon as you can, and don't be afraid to ask questions know what is going one etc.

:) Here is to the banded life!!! :smile2:

I would try to change it up alot, I would have Protein Shakes and liquid from Soups and stews, and Those campbell Soup cups like creamy chicken, and alot of crystal light. Keep it up, it does get easier.

Everyone's diet is different on the Protein liquids but watch the fat on the creamy soups. I am not allowed anything but protein shakes and 2 cups of veggies. fat should not be over 35 grams. I have been told to only drink skim milk for milk in my Protein Shake.< /p>

Well, I am back home. Surgery was yesterday (Friday) and everything went great. I have little pain. Most of the pain is in one incision. The rest feel fine. Doctor said I only have to do one more week of clear liquids instead of two weeks. I am so excited about starting mushies next week. I have been on Clear liquids since Aug. 21st. Today, I have been sipping on Water and ate one popsicle, but other that that I have not been hungry at all. I hope I feel full like this for a long time. That would definitely make dieting easy. I am so happy I had the surgery, it was a piece of cake. For everyone else with surgeries coming up, don't worry, everything has been worth it so far !! Well, going to rest for awhile. Ta-Ta for now.

Wow....I had so many posts to catch up on.

Congrats to all those who have had their surgeries and working out how to deal with various post-op stuff.

Unfortunately, I had a very rare issue happen in my surgery so it took me 2 nights in the hospital and more time to feel up to posting..but things are good and I am not in danger anymore..so..I am just enjoying my lack of hunger.

I started blogging...I tend to post long posts..so I thought it was probably better to blog. If you want to read the whole store you can read it if you like.

For those of you still waiting for your date...keep working hard on your pre-op requirements! Good luck to you all!

I haven't weighed myself yet..I am waiting until Tuesday so I get a one week weigh check...especially since I had more Fluid retention, etc.. because of my additional issue.

*hugs to you all*

Welcome Back Gals, I hope your first days are good..

Cortney: I'm drinking the Isopure drinks too. I find there a little think but, tolerable. At first I couldn't drink much so I drank it straight but then I started diluting them with sugarfree kool-aid. You have to try several because I found the apple one gross..

Jolynne: You're lucky not to have the gas pain. Not everyone has it. I hope your incision feels better. I have to wait a little longer for the mushies...

Welcome back... I read your blog... OMG you poor thing I didn't even know they could do that. Well, I'm glad you're back home and everything is okay. It's great that the doctor decided to put the band in. That would have been such a let down... Good Luck!

Thank You all who contributed to my question about BM.. I'm going to try Colace and see if it does the trick. I love that we can write so candidly... Let's keep on Trackin' Forward.... There's no turning back.

Also, I've noticed I can drink a little more without feeling totally full or bloated... Oh No! I hope I don't experience what they refer to as Bandsters Hell...:)

When is that suppose to happen?

SOCO - Thanks for the info on the Isopure. I tried the Mango Peach today. It is okay. I am sipping on it as much as I can. 2 days out and I just don't want anything to drink still.

I have managed to get a few sips of Water, about an ice cube and a half of SF Jello and maybe 4 oz of the isopure down so far today.

I have the apple one too. I might have to save that one for last. I was going to have it today but thought I would really like it so wanted to save it.

My big thing today is I am tried and sore. I keep feeling like I am going to throw up. I have to burp and I am so scared that I will throw up if I do.

I slept with a heating pad on my abdomen last night. That was nice. I have cramps so bad on top of it from my damn period starting.

Other than that I am doing pretty good. I am hoping to keep feeling better every passing day.

Michelle - WOW sounds like you had quite the procedure done. I am glad it all worked out and pray that you have a speedy recovery from everything you went through. At least you still got the band like you said. I am glad it all worked out for you.

Pam - it is nice to hear how well everyone is doing. I know it helped me with my fears. You will do great in a few days. It gets more and more exciting as each day passes.

Today I think I am going to be spending a lot of the day in bed trying to rest my body. I am so tired today more than the other days and just think my body needs some rest to try and heal up.

Hope everyone else is doing great and having a great Labor day weekend!

I guess every doctor is different, but how can you be doing oatmeal already. I have to be on full liquids for 10 days.

My doctor starts right away with "liquid purees." This includes stuff like mashed potatoes mixed with extra milk so that they are very thin. Cream of wheat and cream of rice are allowed too. When I make the oatmeal, it is very, very thin, almost like milk with a little bit of oatmeal added. Way more liquidy than mushy.

Not sure why, but I also did not have to do clear liquids right after surgery either. I am happy about that.

Man, today is 4 days post-op and I feel so bloated. I don't really have gas pain but feel really full and I feel like my stomach is puffy. I am moving around a lot and feel pretty good. Tomorrow I start full liquids, and I really need it because I am weak from the clear liquids stage. Take care all.

I'm glad to hear you are doing well. I remeber your profile because I was banded on 9/2. I start full liquids oday also. If you come across any "yummy" Soups PLEASE let me know. Trying to get in my head that "this is not a diet i's a way of life", so I am trying to find things that taste good. TTYL! Keep in Touch.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
