I do not believe that this is true. The intention is that you should be able to eat anything. Yes some have problems but not everyone - you have to be careful to not be too tight.

This response was because she has been banded 5 years and lost very little weight. IF you can eat breads great! I'm sure that we are all different. I read the bread info on this site with info about the lap band surgery.

OOPS! I went back to re read and the following is the lady that I was talking to....She's been banded a year! I would like to ask anyon if they think that she might not have enough of a fill? Thanks! Shirley

well I been banded for a year and have only lost 30 pounds and feel like a failure and would love to have any help ..suggestions ...anything.

b4 band I exercised but had problems with eating.. I find that when i do exercise now I gain rather than loose and very frustrated...I know I should have been eating more calories..I tell i cant eat what i used too and have not exercised lately..(too busy) I feel like I am just ranting and raving and not really making any sense..sorry. If you could tell me what you ate when you first had the band and your ideas on what i could do to lose some weight i would reallllllyyyy appreciate it...

Hello, thanks for posting your experience. I am in the early stages of this process and need to wait 6 months before I can even have the surgery. I fit the category of morbidly obese and will have my 1st visit with the Nurse Practicioner at the end of the month. I have read a few sites on peoples experiences both good and bad but still like this is the best procedure because you wont have that rapid weightloss (which is a good way to loose weight) and the procedure is reversible. What is your advice for someone like me getting started?

Hi Captain,

I've been banded a little over 2 months, and I am really happy I have made the decision to have the surgery. If you haven't already done so, you should begin by attending a seminar on WLS, where you will be able to get a lot of info.

This site is fabulous for learing. You can search out info on practically anything related to WLS, and then some. Do keep in mind, that the info here is from a fellow bandster or other weightloss proceedure, and as good as the info may seem, you always should defer to your doctors instructions.

One question that keeps coming up on this site is about Protein shakes. Since the shakes are usually an integral part of the pre-op/post-op diet for most people, you will want to find one or two that you like. Since you have quite awhile before your surgery, you'll have plenty of time to experiment and find something you like. You can do a google search to find places that offer samples.< /p>

Good luck on your journey.

Joan

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site and wanted to introduce myself. I am 62 and have been banded for 2 1/2 years and have not lost much weight. I have had esophagus problems and have had to have my band emptied and trying to start over with the fills. Glad to see such good results for so many. I am trying not to get too depressed over this.

So glad I found you

I am 61 years young. For me this was like my last resort! I cannot eat any type of bread, can you? If you are eating breads without a problem, my guess is that you are not tight enough. I now have 7 cc's of Fluid. I went on a cruise to Alaska last month and my wonderful Dr. Richard (Obesity Solutions, Gainesville, GA "Center of Excellence") removed 2 cc's so that I could eat more comfortably, travel easily and try the wonderful food provided. I only had a problem 3 times in 9 days. I ate quite a bit of food! I also had martini's, wine, and every other tropical drink that you could think of! LOL I still had a restriction of 5 cc's. I think that you are being way too hard on yourself. If you can't talk to the dr. you have now find a Center of Excellence dr. to talk to. I also drink wine in the evenings before and with dinner. I have lost 51 pounds as of today. Please keep in touch...I know that you can do it!

Hi Steelmagnolia,

I noticed you referred to a Dr. in GA. I am in GA and am trying to decide if I should go to Mexoci or have it doen here. Do you by any chance know an approximate price for Dr. Richard? I am self pay. Thanks!

Hi,

I was just banded by Dr. Billy on 8-22-09. I have lost 16 pounds so far but nothing for the past week since I have been able to eat more than liquids. I am praying that I get a fill on my follow up appt. on Sept. 4th because right now I feel like I could eat anything I wanted. I am hungry quite a bit. My Husband even sayings that my stomach growls so loud at night that it wakes him up. My excitement and will power from initially getting the surgery is starting to wane so I am really worried that my eating will get out of control again.

if you can't find my contact info check these things:

1. are you getting enough Protein? 60 - 80 grams per day?

2. are you getting enough fluids (water) - 64 ounces per day?

3. Is there sugar in some of the things you are eating? That can make you hungry an hour after you eat? (yogurt is a big culprit int he sugar area)

4. Are you waiting 1/2 hour before and 1/2 hour after you eat to drink any liquids?

Also, your surgical site where the band is has probably healed, all of the swelling is probably gone and you just don't have any restriction yet. Your first fill will help with that..

It is not unusual to be feeling hunger a month or so after surgery before your first fill.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
