SWEET SPOT - I am losing very slow

Recommended Posts

Just curious as to how many cc's before you hit your sweet spot. I had my 2nd fill yesterday and now have 4.5 cc's. I was a bit bummed at doctor office since I lost 11lbs since surgery (June 4, 2009). I see how amazing many of you are doing and feel like I am losing beyond slow - the doctor said I am doing well, but 4lbs in 5 weeks.

Yes, but you made it through most of bandster hell AND lost weight....not everybody (ME!!!) loses weight, so you have done well. Keep doing what you are doing and the pounds will come off. Slowly is healthy!!!

My dr. *thinks* Im at my sweet spot but I do not. I went for my first fill at 7 weeks post op. I had bounced around the same 4 pounds from 3 weeks post op...he gave me 1 cc (total of 4.5cc) and said that should do me just fine..that i was ahead of the curve and doing well...well,i work my ass off at the gym and have to stop myself at 1 cup of food becuase i can easlily eat that plus snack all day long...i do my best to stop it,but it feels like i don't even have a lap band in!

I too was able to eat more then a cup of food up until my last fill. I think your doctor is wrong. Everybody is different. How can he possibly know if you are at your sweet spot or not? You may need just a little more fill to get there. I am willing to bet that because you are working out so hard you are building muscle and losing fat. Muscle weighs more then fat which is why you don't notice the loss when on the scale. Give it time and the scale will so reflect your loss and your clothing will become much looser on you.

I had 4 fills and think I may be at my sweet spot or really close. I had a port revision a week ago and begged that they not unfill me. Thankfully they were able to comply.

I'm sorry but I don't mean to sound stupid, but what is a sweet spot?

Your "sweet spot" is where you have enough restriction to eat a lilttle but not so tight that it won't go through -- AND you're losing weight.

Ta -- you were still technically in the healing stages. ANY weightloss during the first month or so is a bonus since the focus is not on losing weight but on the band healing properly. Hope that helps you fret less.

I think of it when you get satisfied with a cup or a little less of food, can eat healthy choices without pbing, are losing weight, and are NOT hungry between meals (satisfied for at least 4 hours).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
