Ok, so I met Dr. Geiss on 6/26/2009 ( he is amazing) and got my list of requirements because my job takes up so much of my time it's been so hard to make appointments. I took a week off of work, so I could get some of appointments done, but I feel like it's not enough. How did you guys finish your requirements so fast? So far I finished with my Cardiologist, I have my endoscopy thursday and have a sleep study this week. Also, I'm starting to get nervous about the whole thing and my family isn't really that supportative about the idea, so I feel alone about it. I guess I just needed to rant. Thanks for listening/reading

just take it a day at a time...I worked on my requirements for 10 mths. I thought I would never finish but I did. Sometimes you just have to chunk away little bits at a time. It is ok and all will work out for the best. You will defintely find support here!

chellz I am from Australia and I really think it is a good idea to have all of the work up that you guys have in the states because I feel it really gives you time to fully understand and appreciate what you are doing because once its done there is not turning back. I didnt really fully understand what i was getting into and how fundementally it would force me to change my relationship with food. I was banded 6 months ago and am still learning how to deal with it. Especially

psychologically not having my normal crutch to use when I need to relax, destress, Celebrate, grieve or am upset. Best of luck to you and I am sure you will make the right decision for you. Just dont believe anyone who tries to tell you that you are taking the easy way out. It isnt.

Just adding a note to all of the above as it sounded a bit negative as i re read it. I still think it was the best thing for me to do for myself and my family and do not regret it at all

@Meikobobo....Not negative at all....very helpful. Thank you. It's a lot to consider and never having surgery before doesn't help, but believe me when I tell you, I'm ready. thanks for the response and support

The process is such a pain in the ass, but it seems to be in place for good reason. I decided a year ago that I was going to have surgery and it has taken a year to find the time for surgery as well as the surgeon. Sometimes I think that I have waited long enough and other times I just tell myself to be patient. I do agree though, the massive amounts of appointments are more of a list to accomplish. It would be nice if you could have all your tests done at the same place, not necessarily at the same time, but it would be even better! That way you're not running around flipping out getting to appointments in different places (in my case, different cities) and having all of the work sent to another office hoping it gets there. I guess it does bring reality to the situation, but over the past year I have decided I am not waiting another year and just have to deal with the annoying amount of appointments and waiting. Sometimes you just have to rant and say "all of this is absolute BULLSHIT" in order to come back around and realize it is all for good reason.

hey I was banded by Dr. Geiss on July 17!! he's the bestt! dont worry things will speed up...Everything seems slow because of money and time but once you knock down a good 4 appointments off ur list, things will speed up...your looking at about 2-3 months...but thats because doctors make you wait plus they make you come back for more test...but its all worth it...dont give up and if ur fam isnt supportive, you can always turn to this lap band forum for support, good luck!

@libriteen believe me after I ranted, I felt a lot better, but I finished the medical portion of my requirements....all I have left is my psy and nutrition consult and follow up with my pul and gastro. Things are starting to move now that I'm on vacation and able to take any appointment these doctors are giving me.

@MsFab1988 thank you that was sweet. I'm almost done, I'm thankful I was able to take a week off from work to get things done. I have my echo monday, stress test tuesday, sleep study wednesday and my endoscopy today. I have my pul follow up tomorrow. I've been busy.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
