my doctor and my nutritionist both told me that one meal should be between 3-4 tablespoons. as of right now, i haven't heard of anyone else being given this amount.

but it is working for me. one thing i do is that i carry a little tablespoon measuring spoon with me. so if i'm putting food on my plate for a meal, i use that spoon instead of a normal spoon to serve it. definitly helps me know how much i'm eating.

3-4 tablespoons is equal to about 1.5-2 ounces, or 1/4 cup. That's great that it's working for you. I'm sure after a while you'll know what 4 tablespoons look like just by looking at the plate!

i measured quite a bit at 1st, just to get an idea of what a true portion is supposed to be. now i've done it enough that most things i can kind of eyeball up. i didn't do it so much as counting calories or dieting. just to make me more aware of what i was putting in my mouth. it made me realize how truly out of control my portions used to be.

Hm, that is not a lot. 4 tablespoons is only a quarter of a cup. I think I was told at least 1/2 a cup for meals but I think for me it will probably (once I get good restriction) end up being between 1/2 and 3/4 of a cup.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
