Had my first fill today! YEAH!! I was in major need! I went 6 weeks before I got one and had like no restriction. Ok so my doc was gonna do 4 cc but decided that was too much so I got 3 cc and Im doing good. My question is: He wants me on liquid for 2 weeks!!! Anyone else have to go on liquids that long after your first fill? Most people I thought was only liquid one day then mushies 1 day then all was well.

Would love your feedback on how many CC's you got on your first fill and what your diet was after!

No fill until 8/29 for me but I was told liquids for 7 days post fill. Two weeks is a LONG time! Heck, 7 days is a long time on liquids :)

My first fill is on Thursday, so I'll have to let you know then. Can't wait to begin restriction so I won't be hungry all the time. I don't like the idea of liquids for two weeks, but I'll do what the doc tells me. Keep us posted on your progress!

Wow. My doc has us on one or two days of liquids followed by one or two days of mushies--we are to advance as we are comfortable. I can't imagine two weeks of liquids!

i got my first fill yesterday also. I got 5cc(which he said was very aggressive) but you could see on the fluro screen that the barium was still passing thru without real restriction. (i wonder if the needle was really in the port.) I guess i will see in a few days. I am to do 2 days of clears and 2 days of full liquids/mushies. Back to reg. food on Sunday. I cant imagine goin back on liquids for 2 weeks. The things we have to go thru and people say surgery is the easy way out. They just dont know our stories!!!

Diva, that sounds really drastic. I got my first fill yesterday and am on 24 hour liquids, 24 hour mushies and then solids. I am burping some too. I am having to be very careful not to gulp. A whole new learning experience.

That does seem very drastic to me. I know others will tell you to listen to your surgeon but I just wanted to tell you how my surgeon handles it. I have a 14cc band and had my first fill two weeks ago of 4 cc. I had my second fill yesterday with two more cc's. I lost 7 pounds in 11 days (between fills) so I think I'm doing great. I also work out at the gym three to four times a week so I'm working hard. After my first fill I asked the surgeon about being on a liquid diet (due to reading everyone's posts here) and he stated that he does not require any special diet after a fill and I can go right back to foods. He said he has learned that going to liquids and mushes just slows down the weight loss for his patients. I have had no problems whatsoever going to foods. I have to tell you I have the utmost respect for my surgeon, not only due to his being a surgeon but he also has the band. He was banded years ago when it first came out (and I think he was banded in Germany) and so he knows exactly what we are going through and he also knows what works and what doesn't. How lucky are we to have a surgeon who is also with the band!!!

Hi Diva I had my first fill July 16th and was instructed by my surgeon that I had to go back on thin liquids for 24 hours, then mushies for 2 days then soft foods for 2 days. I haven't heard of anyone having to go back on liquids for 2 weeks.

I had my first fill today (3cc in a 10cc band) I'm sore at the site of the needle. He said I had alot of scar tissue covering port but that was normal. My dr told me to take it easy today with liquids only and tomorrow I can start mushies/soft foods for a day and by Friday I'll be back on regular food.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
