I am 5 months out and have platued @ 50 lbs. I do not know if my body has reached the limit or what. My MD never has given me a food plan only told me eat low fat and low sugar but never mentions portion sizes and how much. If you have any plans please let me know.Still have 180lbs. to go.

Mine never gave me a food plan either. I am supposed to eat normally making sure I get some lean Protein and veggies with each meal. I am not supposed to eat between meals or eat liquids and soft foods. My meal size is around 1 cup per meal.

Plateaus are perfectly normal and do not mean that you have reached your limit. I went through three major plateaus and a bunch of little ones. They will happen throughout your weight loss journey and don't necessarily mean that you are doing something wrong. Keep doing what you did to lose the first 50 lbs. and it will eventually pass.

Make sure you are getting enough calories but not overeating. If you are eating too much and not staying satisfied until your next meal get a fill, keep hydrated and keep exercising.

Don't let this get you down, you are doing great!!!!

I don't follow my program's food plan because it doesn't work unless you have good restriction, but these are the guidelines I was given:

5 oz. of food at each meal, no more than 2-3 oz. of meat (this is barely over half of a cup--I don't know anyone who would be satisfied with this unless they have perfect restriction)

No Pasta, rice, or potatoes--that means no whole grain versions either, I've asked. In general these are fairly low-calorie foods, so to cut out even whole grain versions to me is a bad idea, but I'm not into the low-carb thing either.

No sugar.

I have a whole little packet they gave me of acceptable foods and portion sizes (or "exchanges") and how many exchanges I could eat and when. I find their plan too restrictive and not filling enough so I just watch what I eat and try to choose healthier foods. If I actually measured and weighed everything, I would go crazy, but that's just me.

My Dr. had me meet with a nutrishionist b4 my surgery. And she runs a once-a-month group as well. Her guidelines are for no more then a 4oz piece of protien (checken, fish, meat, etc.) at one meal. (Which is a 1/4 pound and a small but real portion size.) She also advises against rice because it can be sticky and cause obstruction but had no issue with potatoes. (Mashed I would assume.) Pasta in limited amounts.

And as always...chew, chew chew.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
