Hi!

I'm new to all this and need some help :) I was banded on 7/27 and will be starting my pureed food stage on 8/5. Can you tell me how thick that is? I was told it needs to be like baby food but is that like a milkshake?

Any help would be great!!

Thanks so much!:smile2:

pureed is baby food consistency. I just got banded 7/30 and am on clears for a while. My dietitian gave me the following list for my pureed diet: canned meats (tuna, chicken, turkey); eggs (not fried); fat-free refried beans; applesause; cream of wheat or grits; mashed potatoes; easily mashed fruits; or baby food. I hope this helps. Good luck to you!

The woman from my weight loss center told me that you don't necessarily have to actually puree it in a machine. If you work hard and are chewing enough, it really becomes pureed in your mouth. Just take your time and chew.

I was banded the 29th of July and was told to start the puree stage. I also am confused on to get 50-60 grams of Protein and all the Fluid in one day.

Also is someone has a food diary or diet plan to share I would really apreaciate it. My first fill will be the 26th of August.

I'm on the puree stage diet too. I was banded 7/27. My surgeon told me to eat food that are baby food consistency. I have tried the canned chicken and that works really well. I've also mushed up green Beans and peas with my spoon. I don't always use a blender but I always use a baby spoon to eat with. The portion is 1/2 of a baby spoon. If you don't have a baby spoon but had an idea of how much that is then you should be fine.

When I was in my pureed food stage I pretty much ate what my husband did - meatloaf, chili, tuna salad, meatballs, salmon, etc. But whatever I ate I put in the JCPenney version of the Magic Bullet to make it mushy. I thought I had died and gone to heaven!! The look of the food didn't bother me at all, it all tasted the same as before surgery.

To be honest my foods couldn't have passed through a straw - in retrospect I should have thinned them out more. My dietician recommending using beef broth, chicken broth, etc to do this.

You probably don't have to have a blender of some sort in this stage, but I would hate to accidentally swallow something before I got it mushy or small enough, especially when you are newly banded and just learning the small bites, chew well habit. That's just my opinion.

Where I am going to have my surgery, they do not have a mushie stage. You go from liquid to regular food just chew it really really well.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
