How long does port stay sore?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on July21. I feel pretty good but I am stillsore when I sit up from laying down.My bra seems to rub on the skin right above it which is very tender. When I get a fill will this start all over again? I feel like I don't want to do anything to aggravate it so I have been laying low for a while.I just need to know how long befor the tenderness goes away?

Today is week #3 for me and my biggest incision, the port site, is still sore enough at times. If I turn too far to the left or right, sleep on it funny, etc it can be tender.

It takes it a while for most of us. I am pretty sturdy and slept on my left (port) side 1st night, etc and I still occasionally get a twinge there. It's minor...more like an "awareness" than a pain. They are sewn into the muscle in our abdomens (for most of us...realize I think are attached differently) and it takes muscle a while to recover, I think.

My surgeon told me that it is common for the port area to be sore up to 6 weeks after surgery. I believe the the soreness for me only lasted a few weeks.

I did not experience any pain or soreness at the port area after my fills.

Mine hurt for three or four weeks and twinges from time to time. I can't lay on my port side for long periods of time now, six weeks out. Fortunately, I sleep on my other side anyway :smile2:

I guess I am pretty fortunate that my port was placed at the front of my stomach. I can lay comfortably on both my sides and stomach for long periods. It hurt pretty bad for about the first 10 days before the pain subsided. After that it was just a subtle reminder that I had surgery.:smile2:
