Meeow 0 Posted September 27, 2005 Hello, Has anyone had their band removed due to a chronic foreign body rejection? I know that the band itself is inert silicone and should not cause a reaction. Thanks Helen
ReneBean 3 Posted September 27, 2005 Well, I don't have a band yet - but I have been researching on the boards for a while, now. I haven't ever heard of this happening... Maybe some of the veterans can chime in? Or one of the docs?
Alexandra 55 Posted September 27, 2005 I have heard of people "rejecting" the band but in fact, it seems that usually something else is going on. People have all sorts of medical conditions that can impede healing or cause internal inflammation, and adding a foreign object can make that situation worse. The band itself is not a material that itself can cause any reaction, but that doesn't mean the simple fact of putting it in a body that is otherwise compromised is always going to be totally successful. If you have any reason to think you might fall into one of those categories, talk to your doctor.
Penni60 45 Posted September 27, 2005 I talked extensively with my doctor about this subject and he said there has not been any data to support the band being removed due to rejection. IT was typically due to other complications.
