There is nothing like trying on clothes that will remind you that you are fat!!! I needed to get a few dress pants...yeah lets just say it put a cramp in my day. In the dressing room i got really mad and was like " I can not wait to have this dang surgery" but I am trying not to let it ruin my day. I am going to try and not try on clothes again until after!

I know how you feel. But I will always be a "pear shape", bigger on bottom through my hips & thighs. Even though I have been losing, I still have my angry moments in the dressing rooms.

Jess and sharie, just wait until AFTER surgery. You are constantly having to buy clothes. It is, however, a little more fun to buy smaller sizes each time. Prior to surgery, I was in a tight 26/28, so I dreaded trying things on. I was always worried that the biggest size wouldn't fit. I am also curvy, so I went from a right fit blue size 6T to a right fit blue size 1T. I started wearing the 1T about 9 months post op. It goes kind of quick, so put money aside to buy.

How long until your surgeries?

Thanks for all the encouragement! I just keep telling myself how fun it will be when I can buy smaller clothes!!! I don't have a date yet! I have my appointment with the coordinator tomorrow at 1:30:thumbup:. I am hoping to have it early September. I am self pay so I don't have to wait on any insurance or anything!!! I am very excited to have the process going this fast!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
