bandfun4me,

I learn so much from all the comments, however, please explain why you say, "limit yourself to 30 minutes" :)

S/he said time yourself not limit, just to be sure to avoid eating too fast I assume.

OK, that makes sense. Guess I had on my mind the 5-Day Pouch Test says, "eat for 15 minutes and then stop".

Scout 47. My nutrionist laid out the platform for out eating and the whatnots. Eating slow as we do, chewing slowly, baby fork down in between bites and then another small bite. Anyway we were told to limit ourselves to 30 minutes. If we could not get it down in that amount of time we were trying to eat more than our pouch "should" hold. I think the Dr considers it grazing at that point. It is a good guideline for me, maybe not anyone else. Just as the items we consume. We were also told if the food did not have at least 7 g Protein, pass it by. Protein is the main item and must go in first.:)

Thanks for the explaination; that makes so much sense and I will set my timer for 30 minutes at my next meal; then of course I have to set my timer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until I can drink Water. Gee, I should have invested my retirement in the timer industry:biggrin:

4 weeks post-op I could eat anything I chose to eat. Please note the word CHOSE. I LOVE Mexican food, love it!!!!! But it is loaded with fat (I mean, those ymmy refried Beans may have LARD in them, for pete's sake). My fave Mexican place has yummy fish tacos, grilled fish, and even a "lunch portion" of chicken fajitas. If you don't eat any tortillas, you should be able to eat a small serving of rice (about 1/4 cup is a serving). A taco salad with chicken instead of beef, tell them "no beans", salsa and a little sour cream for the Salad Dressing is a good option too.

YAY for Mexican food! I agree with RestlessMonkey - moderation is key. Not deprivation. I still go for Mexican and order chicken fajitas but only eat the meat and veggies. I skip the tortillas. I also divide it out before I start eating and limit myself to about 1/3 of the fajita mix. I know this may change when I hit my sweet spot. And I'm fine with that. I'll still eat Mexican. I just may have to switch to a ground beef taco or something. Whatever I find I can eat, I'll still use the concept of Portion Control.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
