johnmordecai 0 Posted August 2, 2009 So I'm in mushies, nearly two weeks post-op, and it's clear that a) I have no restriction whatever and  if I hold to the mushie diet I was given by the nutritionist, I am going to be living with painful hunger for another 17 days until I get my first fill. I haven't been eating anything sugary, cakey, or bready, and no dessert, so I still feel like I'm on a diet, but I feel like I just can't keep to the plan that I should act as though I have 4 ccs of saline in my band. Anyone btdt, or offer counsel?
erywn 0 Posted August 2, 2009 Remember the fact we were banded is a big deal!!! I am still on the liquid diet, then will be on the mushie one in another week. I look at it like its a challenge. To blow it would only being making yourself a failure. I don't believe I have anything in my port but I want my body to adjust like there is. Anytime I eat I use a 4-6oz cup to put food into. I will eat this (soup or jello) If I am still hungry wich I am atm I think its important to wait a hour before attempting again,, The 2nd attempt should be a Protein Shake (unless you had this first) Getting the Protien in your body, it will think that its fuller. One big benefit to eating like this is we will cont. to loose weight and for me getting on a scale and seeing a few lbs off is a big accomplishment. Good luck hope this worked
jacksdad 0 Posted August 3, 2009 Hang in there. I feel similar to you. Was banded on July 15th and my doc would do a fill until 6 weeks after so my first fill is August 28th. I'm going at it day by day and meal by meal and chewing a ton and eating slower than I ever have in my life. I had will power once and am getting it back. I didn't go through 6 months of prep classes for this surgery to blow it in a month. Hang in there man, we got this. Drink tons of Water, especially like 30 minutes before you eat and that will help keep that full feeling.
chelley_66 0 Posted August 3, 2009 Hello, I am at the same point in the process as you AND feel the same way. My nutritionist doesnt have me eating regular food until 24 weeks. Its that crazy? Yeah thats not going to happen.

knrpick 0 Posted August 3, 2009 24 wks?! HOLY CRAP! I'm so sorry! I had surgery on the 13th and I, unfortunatly, feel the same way you all do! My mushies are really good though, so it's not bad, but I can only have 1 1/2 oz of Protein and 1 oz of other stuff. I can't stay with that because I'm freaking starving! Literally getting Migraines with this. I'm getting tons of Water, my kids laugh and ask if my pee is clear. Yup! I just think it's going to be a struggle till we get our first fill. Mine is on the 11th of August, thank Goodness!!!!!! I haven't been fantastic, so therefore, I have only lost 8 lbs since surgery. But I also have to look at it this way. When was the last time I lost 8 lbs in 3 wks?! Come on! You can do this! We are all obviously struggling right now! HANG IN THERE! They do tell me it gets better, but I want proof! lol

evil_gummi_bear 0 Posted August 3, 2009 I'm struggling with mushies also. I've reverted back to my grazing habits, which is destroying any progress I've made. I need to work harder.
