good luck amanda with your band.

if you follow the doctor's advice....you can be successful. the key is to realize the band is one tool of the many we need to get on a healthy track. it is not the sole tool.

i was sore for a little while too. but each day i got better. in the beginning i didnt lose weight. i just needed to recover from the surgery.

i also wasnt eating enough and my weight slowed down. once i started eating a balanced meal (Protein first) and exercised and drank liquids...the weight really came off.

where is burleson near? who was your doctor?

take care and best of luck!

josie

also dont get discouraged if you post and dont get a response (it really bugged me).

try to hook up with people that got banded the same month as you. they usually start a group so you can each support each other. i think i may have seen one for september 09

Just got banded 3 days ago, 8/31/09. Feeling better. My only advice would be to prepare for the gas pains. Have chewable gas-x on hand, and walk, walk, walk to help break up the gas. It's just loose in the abdominal cavity and you can feel it move around. It's also hard to get enough fluids in. Good luck with your surgery! We can get our skinny on together!!

Burleson is right south of Fort Worth. Dr. Snow in Hurst did my surgery. Thanks for the well wishes.

Yes we can! Gas pains are getting better and yes it is very hard to get fluids in but it gets easier everyday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
