Jenai 0 Posted August 8, 2009 Jenai, I have the 10 cc Lapband. I currently have 5 cc in my band--just two fills. The second one made a big difference for me too. I have three meals a day with a snack at 10:00 am and again at 9:00 pm. I usually have 8 oz of milk, a LF cheese stick, or a SF pudding for my Snacks. Sometimes I have plain almonds. I try to keep the two Snacks under 100 calories, low in fat, and sugar free. Keep up the good work Jenai! Glad you're on board here! How tall are you? I'm 5'2". Willow Hi Willow. I am 5'7". Do you find that 5cc is a good spot for you right now? I did have a little bit put in my band at surgery. Then 2 weeks out of surgery I had a problem with some swelling and a low heart rate and had to go back into the hospital for 2 days. They removed all Fluid and air and that seemed to help some. A cardiologist was brought in and she said the lower heart rate was because the vagal tone (vagal nerve) runs through our stomachs and it was compromised by the swelling and was causing the low heart rate. My heart rate is normally in the low 60's. But it dropped to the low 40's/high 30's. After the swelling went down over the next several weeks, my heart rate returned to normal. So I had 2cc put in the band at 5 weeks out and another 2 put in the band just this past wednesday. I will be going back in 2 more weeks and do 1 cc for a total of 5cc. I am thinking based on how I feel right now that may be a good spot for me.
Jenai 0 Posted August 8, 2009 Jenai I also have a 10 cc Lapband. I've had 3 fills for a total of 4.5ccs. I do not have any restriction. My next appointment is Tuesday 8/11/09. I hope this fill helps me feel satisfied with just a few bites. I started off being satisfied with a few bites for a month after surgery. My surgeon had given me 2 ccs during the procedure. The restriction wore off and I have not had it since. It will be easier once I return to work. I was grazing a bit and eating the wrong foods. Once I return to work, my Breakfast will be a Protein shake and Soup for lunch. Willowcat thanks for posting that quote. I just got in from a workshop and thought I would skip my workout today. Thanks to you I am going to put my miles in today. I must say once you actually start to feel the restriction it is amazing. So hopefully you will feel it with the next fill. Does your dr discourage Protein drinks or soup? Mine does. He seems to think it will go right through us and not allow us to feel satisfied. I like soup and I like a Protein Drink before I head to the gym. Would you believe it was 105 last week at this time and it is 68 degrees now! How extreme is that! Should be a good workout on the elliptical tonight with this cooler weather. We get some ocean air that cools us down every once in awhile. (I am about 90 miles inland from the ocean). It is a refreshing change I will admit.

2911plans 16 Posted August 8, 2009 Did your dr's give you a picture after surgery showing your stomach with the band placed around it? Jenai I received pictures from my doctor. I was amazed. I had a hernia and the pictures showed that too. My doctor puts me on 3 days of liquids and 3 days of soft foods after a fill. It has been hard for me to stick with that. Hopefully I will have better luck with this fill. I'm glad the weather is back to normal for you all. It must be nice to live in area with temps like that mid summer. Have a great workout! 2911plans 16 Posted August 8, 2009 Yeah! You can do it, 2911! :scared2: (Hope the workshop was a good one.) Willow I got my miles in Willowcat. Thanks again for encouraging me to get it done. The workshop was pretty interesting. It was all about making the most of small groups. Can't wait to put some of the ideas into practice.

You're right on track to make your goal! 15X4=60 If I'm remembering right, last month you got a late start and still passed your 50-mile goal! Raising the bar is a good thing. You can do it! willowcat 93 Posted August 9, 2009 Did your dr's give you a picture after surgery showing your stomach with the band placed around it? No, no picture. I think I prefer the image I have in my mind to the real thing anyway.
willowcat 93 Posted August 9, 2009 Hi Willow. I am 5'7". Do you find that 5cc is a good spot for you right now? Yes, Jenai, 5cc seems to be a pretty good spot for me. I have an appointment for a fill on Monday. I can't decide if I need one or not. I don't want to be too tight, but I also don't want to go through "Bandster Hell" again--that was awful! Maybe a little fill like .5 cc just to keep the edge off until my next fill? I'll see what my doctor thinks. Sorry to hear about you having to return to the hospital, but glad that everything worked out for you. Good luck with 5ccs!

Jenai 0 Posted August 9, 2009 Week one, 20.75 miles down, 79.25 miles to go. It was an interesting workout for me tonight. With my last fill on Wednesday, I'm feeling real restriction for the first time. I had alot of errands to do today and it took me until 5:00 to make my Protein meal and I finished eating it one hour before it was time to head to the gym. I had a hard time doing my five miles as I still felt so full. Restrictions=longer digestion time. I hadn't considered this before. During the week I usually have my main meal at lunch time, so when I come home after work and head to the gym, I have had several hours to digest that main Protein meal and can have a good workout. I learned a lesson tonight to eat earlier in the day so I can have a good workout later. I felt like an after Thanksgiving dinner fullness. I didn't eat that much, it just was too soon to exercise. My gym closes early on the weekend evenings so I had to exercise when I did. It was an interesting experience. I will be sure to eat much earlier in the day in the future. The band continues to teach me so much.
