Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted anything but have a question about warm liquids.

I have major restriction in the morning and eating anything solid would be a daunting task so I just have a Protein shake in the morning and maybe something like some pudding. I do notice that a warm liquid like coffee seems to ease my restriction and make it a little easier to eat. Does anyone else have that feeling?

Also, I am at my limit regarding lap band fills due to a recent appointment with my doctor. He added .5cc's and when I swallowed barium under fluro, nothing went down and actually started coming back up. He took out .25cc's and my body allowed the liquid to go down my throat and past my band. My eating habits are a lot different than before and eating many solid foods is a daunting task until very late in the day. What is your typical menu each day?

I'm thankful to all that will read my post and respond with their personal experiences.

Take care!

I put my choc. Protein mix with a little Creamer and splenda in my coffee and it makes a nice mocha coffee in the morning for me. I'm having it right now. Yum! Get the warm liquid and protein all at once.

Honestly I stay hydrated per my doc's instructions (start the day with 16 ounces of Water from the refrigerator) and I can eat normally from the start. I asked my surgeon and he said a general rule of thumb with the band is dehydrated=tight. Makes sense since as the day progresses most people consume liquids and the band loosens. You may try that if your situation becomes problematic! :)

I too am prone to morning tightness. Staying hydrated does help but for me dosent solve the problem entirely. I start out every morning (or afternoon in my case since I work nights) with a hot cup of coffee or tea. If I feel super hungry but still tight I have a cup of chicken boullin instead. The salt helps curb the craving for food until I've loosened up enough to really eat. After a few hours I'm fine and can eat anything in a small portion.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
