how does a good restriction feel?

Recommended Posts

:blush:How do you know if you have a good restiction after your fill?

I had a fill a couple of weeks ago and my thoat felt like it had something stuck in it all the time i went to the hospital for a e-ray to see if the band was okay, I told them about my throat and they said they think my band had kink in it. they emptied my band then filled it back up with 5 mill

I still have something in the back of my throat and also a horrible tast in my mouth, do you think this will go away in few days. I was not told by my surgen that i had to have fluids yesterday and and i have been exersising today could this also have caursed the problem in my throat again?>

any help would be good.

Gillian

You may have a little bit of acid reflux, you may want to try to chew some tums or rolaids and see if that helps. It helps me when I feel that way.

That sounds like reflux to me, too. Maybe your band is too tight.

I think that people differ in what they like and view as good restriction. For me, it's when my band is tight enough that I can't overeat, but not so tight that I can't eat in front of people who don't know I'm banded without them freaking out about how little I'm eating. I like the band at a level where liquids go down reasonably normally (though if I take a big sip, it takes a minute to go down the hole).

I have 2.85 ccs in my 5 cc band, if that helps at all!

You should call your doctor if that feeling doesn't go away by tomorrow. Sounds like you might need a wee unfill.

It's different for everyone, but you know it when you have it. I hope you find your happy spot soon because I know from experience that it's frustrating.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
