Sorry, Glenn Beck is an idiot. He is nothing more than an entertainer with a skewed view of reality. So is Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Kieth Olberman and Rachel Maddow (see, there are idiots on both sides). You can’t really take anything that any of these nitwits say seriously.

I can when what they're saying I've been watching happen for a while.

When you hear exactly what you want to hear rather than all sides of an issue you are being entertained, not informed (IMHO).

I've watched Glenn Beck's show and have listened to him on the radio and if I believed everything he said I'd be too afraid to leave my house in the morning. He appears to be a fearmonger and I'm a middle of the road person where I listen to all news and try to decipher on my own what's really going on in the world.

First and foremost, I don't have cable, so I don't have the luxury of listening to them all.

And I'm not WANTING to hear it -- it's just nice to know that not everybody out there is blind, deaf, and stupid.

I get enough of the left on mainstream media, and frankly, I hate, despise, and disagree with them 99.999 percent of the time. What's to hear that would "inform" me?

Nanook,

If you have access to SirusXM (if you are not a subscriber, I think you can still stream online) I would suggest checking out P.O.T.U.S. I started listening to them during the election and am now totally hooked.

Beth,

The “mainstream media” term is a red herring; it implies that they are somehow in collusion – a ridiculous conspiracy theory if you ask me. I think in order to be truly informed one needs to listen to the biased pundits on the right and left (Fox and MSNBC) are good for this – but not too much because you will risk being sucked into their madness. Then I try to get most actual news from “unbiased” news outlets. Personally, I like CNN, Mcneil/Lehrer, NPR, BBC (I need a world perspective too) and P.O.T.U.S. Unbiased is in quotes, because obviously no source is really unbiased. They all have political affiliations and corporate sponsorships – but to me they seem to be more middle of the road. Well, except for CNN - they sometimes can be as bad as Fox and MSNBC.

Beth it's too bad you don't get cable TV because the best info I get sometimes is from the Stephen Colbert Report on Comedy Central. Sometimes it helps to laugh at some of the crazy shite that's happening in our country and the world.

I DO believe the bulk of the media is very left leaning AND in collusion with anybody on the left, ESPECIALLY Obama. I have watched them give him a pass where NO right-leaning pol ever would get one. And it's not just Obama -- they did so with Clinton as well. However, because so many seem to see BoB as the second coming, I believe he is given more of a pass than usual.

Jaded, I know. And again, I don't have cable, so I can't get those sources except online.

However, your comment that "sometimes" CNN can be as bad as FOX... erm, I see them as one of the biggest left-leaning culprits along with MSNBC. Yes, there was a time that I DID have cable.

Now THAT I could handle.

Don't even get me stared on the cable thing... it's not MY choice.

You tell people these days that you don't have cable and you might as well tell them you don't have indoor plumbing. :tt2:

You could still probably watch those shows on line that's what I would do.

Yeah, we'll have to see. I begin a full load of classes (17 credit hours) at the end of August. I doubt I'll be watching much of anything for, oh, the rest of my life (it seems).

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
