elcee 3,341 Posted July 30, 2009 Ok a bit of background for US and European members. Magda is the latest celebrity to appear in our Jenny Craig adverts. She is being touted as an amazing success and is all over magazines etc. She is between 153cm and 158cm tall depending on which site you go into. She started off at over 120kg and has now hit her goal weight of 85kg. I applaud her for the hard work she has done but cannot see why someone would have a goal that still makes them obese. If she is 153cm (the same height as me) then her BMI is now 36.3, if she is 158 it is 34. Both unhealthy by any standards. If this was just a step on her way to a healthy weight it would be great but according to everything I have read she has reached her GOAL!!!!! I think this sends out completely the wrong message. Also according to the magazines she is now a size 14 (which I think is the equivalent of a US 10,UK 12) . Yeah right, I started off at 74kg , 10kg less than Magda , and was struggling to get into size 18 shirts. Seems like some misleading advertising here. Sorry, I'm a metric nitwit, so I had to look up all the conversions. So 85 kg equals 187.2 pounds, and apparently 153 cm is between 5'0" and 5'1", while 158 cm is between 5'2" and 5'3". I don't care how you work that, THAT'S FAT! Now granted, starting at 120 kg 264.5 pounds, but still... being that short and 187 pounds is fat. Maybe a mini-goal, but a GOAL? And at that weight, there is NO way she would be wearing an American size 10. No way. Without looking forever, I found a blog that has her before and after pics. She really looks good, and I'm adding this disclaimer after what I wrote above to say she does not look like she's 187 pounds... Fat Lot of Good
Headhunter 6 Posted July 30, 2009 That's kind of like when Kirstie Alley went on Oprah in a "bikini". I think she was a few months premature on that move. MANY months, really. HH
gone 4 ever 6 Posted August 2, 2009 Well I think she looks really good! Especially since I started out heavier than her 309, and am shorter than her 4'10. So I have hope! But she is not an US size 10.
