Had Surgery this morning!

Recommended Posts

Hey there yall, I had my surgery this morning. I am doing pretty good. The gas pains are hurting pretty bad. When I get up and walk around and put my hands in the air I feel better and then I will sit up for a little bit and it is fine. When I lay down is when it hurts. But other than that I feel ok. On Clear Liquids for 3 days and then start full liquids again for a week or so. I know this is a really good thing that I did even though what I went thru to get it. Good Luck to everyone that has had it and I know I started a new life today! :juggle:

I am feeling better. The wounds are not even really hurting. It is the gas pain but I will make it thru. Thanks for the encouraging words

Momwifelove,

Walk walk walk is the best thing for that gas. It is aggravating I know but it helps. I made countless trips through my kitchen, dining room and living room and back.

Congratulations on your surgery! :crying:

Definitely walk around as much as possible -- it's a big help! Congratulations on getting banded!

If you haven't done it yet, be sure to take your measurements and take a few full length photos as soon as possible. It feels so good as you are losing to be able to look back and see how far you have come! :crying:

Best wishes,

Catherine

the gas pains are what's hurting, most of the gas pains are below the incisions mostly, I feel like I got burt but can't and I also need to go #2 but can't either and I know I'd feel 10 times better. Sometimes it hurts to take deep breaths but other than that I feel ok it's ok when I walk just hurts when getting up and I feel a little warm and just alittle uncomfortable ): can't wait for it to go away

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
