jen122277 0 Posted September 12, 2005 Hi I am Jen and I live in Brookfield, Il. I am having my band put in on Sept 20th by Doctor Alexander Nagle @ Northwestern University Hospital with additional support from the Wellness Insitute. I HIGHLY reccomend using NWU Hosp. because the staff is really great with dealing with the insurance companies and their doctors are very well known and published in the subject, I went to Lap Band Centers on Michigan Ave. and was so turned off by the "factory" atmosphere it had. I get tons of personal attention from my team at NWU.
Thor 0 Posted December 16, 2007 Hi, I live close to Peoria also, but if approved will be going to a Dr. in Clinton, I went to the meeting over in Peoria, Dr. Rossi, and I know him personally, he is a great surgion, and a neat Christian, but you have to pay 500.00 up front for a class and the insurance won't even pay for it, I could not afford that, i know that has changed alot of peoples minds, due to the 500 up front, plus my insurance will only pay 80/20 so I felt if I could go were I could have a good Dr. and not have the 500 extra I would do that. I live over by Morton, would love to be able to keep in touch with someone close and compare notes or just vent. this has been a long journey and we aren't even there yet Believe, Thor, (Becky):nervous

Kristin1031 0 Posted December 25, 2007 I live in Peoria and had my surgery with Dr. Debord on Nov 9th. I am feeling great and am thrilled with my decision to do this band thing for life! I wanted to have my surgery at a Center for Excellence because I knew that I would be getting the best care available. There are many things that can go wrong with this procedure. It is not as easy to perform as it sounds. Choosing a surgeon is a very important step and I researched the PSG for many many months before I decided that I wanted them to perform it. Waiting is probably the hardest part, but it was also the most rewarding and informational time for me. I began reading and going to support group meetings and this helped me to solidify the choice that I made to go ahead in my mind. I began meeting and speaking to others who had gone before me and I saw huge success stories and I knew that I too could be a huge success. I am doing great through the holidays and not even craving much of the junk that is all around. I am eating healthier than I ever have before in my life. I feel awesome and will soon hit the 30 pounds off mark. WOW!! hard to believe that I had maintained my highest weight of my life for nearly 16 months without a downward move of the scale until my new best friend the BAND was placed, and now nearly 30 pounds in less than 2 months. I feel liberated from food HELL!! Good luck to those of you moving forward with your decisions to be banded. It is the best gift anyone could ever have given to me. My insurance paid 100% of my surgery except for my outpatient co-payment $200 and the $495 fee that the surgeons require for entrance into the bariatric program thru OSF Medical Center. It is the best $495 I have ever spent with lifetime support group membership and nurses, nutritionist and pharmacists and excersise specialtists whenever we need to talk to them available to us. I cannot imagine doing this without that support of those professionals who only want to see us succeed. Happy New Year Everyone!!:clap2::whoo:

Paula Maglica 0 Posted March 28, 2008 Hello fellow bandsters, I'm brand new to all this, stumbled on this website and have been hooked on it ever since. I live near Joliet IL and hopefully (pending insurance approval) sometime in May. I've been doing the 6 mo Dr. supervised diet, and going to all of my required dr visits getting their approval. My surgury is going to be at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet by Dr Lahmann. The center is called BMI. He does gastric bypass and the LapBand. Would love to get to know anyone else out there from this area. (and elsewere)

lori0307 0 Posted April 2, 2008 Hi MommyMJ. I live in Manteno, just about 30 minutes south of you. I grew up in New Lenox and travel to Joliet all the time. I originally saw Dr Lahmann but ended up going with the Day One Health in downtown Chicago. They were able to be a little more persistant with the insurance and able to get mine covered so I went with them. I know Dr Lahmann is affiliated with Day One Health too. Good luck getting a surgery date. It took me a whole year to get insurance to cover mine. Alot of appeal letters, but one they did, I had the surgery 2 weeks later. I just got banded on Thursday. Today is the first day that I feel better. Let me know how it goes. My husbands friend had his done by Dr Lahmann and had all good things to say.
