Will be more detailed in the surgery stories later (not tonight). Went in at 6:15am this morning and got home at 2pm.

I'm definitely really sore and it doesn't feel like the pain meds are doing much, but it's manageable! I'm doing pretty good otherwise.

Didn't have any nausea after the surgery from the anesthesia, which I'm thrilled about! I also don't have any horrible gas pains or anything. Do those begin immediately or are they supposed to start the next day or something?

My surgeon also filled me to 2cc. I had no idea he was planning on it. No hiatal hernia (which I was kind of expecting to happen). Everything went very smoothly!!

I also thought I would be on Clear liquids for a week, then another week of full liquids. But turns out I only have Clear Liquids today and I can start full liquids tomorrow. Then mushies week 2. Not hungry right now.

Haven't had any problems drinking (never regurgitated or anything). And I have 6 bandages on my stomach, so I guess they made 6 incisions?

But I'm so happy and I'm totally looking forward to this new life!!!

Also never did a barium swallow or anything. Is that normal?

Hello, Glad your doing well. I didn't even think about posting the day of my surgery. But I did have a hernia removed. So I was pretty tired. I also did not do the swallow thing. I guess I never asked if that was normal or not. I am doing fine, have no problems. Every doctor is diffrent. Get your rest, I found that to be very important.

Congratulations! It sounds like you are doing well. I didn't have to do the swallow thing, either. Thankfully, because I can assure you, the one I had to do for preop tests really did me in. I was the biggest baby and kept gagging. Jeez.

For the next few days, walk around as much as you can to try to get the gas to move out of your body. Luckily, I didn't have any real problems at all with this, but I hear many people say it is the worst part.

Congrats and welcome to bandland. Sounds like you're doing well. I was banded six days ago and haven't had many problems...just tired and the hunger did come back. Drink the Protein it helps....WALK WALK AND WALK to keep the gas pains away. I walked a lot the first three days and didn't have any problems with the gas except a little soreness in my back which I used a heating pad for.

You'll do fine you have a great attitude.

Good luck and keep us posted~!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
