jess-band4/06 0 Posted July 28, 2009 I was banded 4/06 and have lost 100 lbs. Over the last 7-8 months, I gained a few pounds and feel no restriction. After having an upper GI to determine if any problems exist. None were found and surgeon attempted to remove Fluid from the band. I have a 5cc. band that was filled to 5cc. When he attempted to remove the Fluid there was none! I had at least five fills prior to a year ago. He filled the band with 1cc and said to wait a month and comeback to see what is in the band then. Otherwise there may be a leak in the balloons or tubing (none was seen on the upper GI). Help! nenesalifu 1 Posted August 8, 2009 Something similar happened to me.. I have a 4 cc band and thought I had 3.3cc in it, but also thought that I could eat too much.. So finally after a small weight gain in a fortnight, I got the doc to check my millage, and it was empty.. so she used a thicker gel like sollution to fill me this time, and it seems to have worked.. Sometimes there can be a tiny leak that can be repaired by the thicker gel fill... Perhaps ask your doc about it.. Good Luck.. xx Nene
sassy4646 0 Posted June 1, 2010 has the thicker Fluid worked still? I am so afraid that the same problem is happening to me. I only vomited once since surgery but I honestly feel that i have lost fluid these past few weeks... I am petrified and still have so much more to lose... I was supposed to have over 6 cc's and the Dr could only pull out 1.2. he gave me a fill right there, and tried to pull it back out. Not all of it would come. I am scheduled for a port replacement on the 17th. Hopefully yours is just a leak in the tubing. It is pretty rare to have a leak in the actual band. Good luck! pickles123 0 Posted June 2, 2010 Just a thought but, I think, around Dec? Jan? the non coring needles were found to be making holes. It is all over the internet. Check it out and make sure your doctor is not using the old ones. Just a suggestions but that might be what happened.
sandylane 0 Posted June 3, 2010 I too have had tube leakage. I have been complaining that I never felt restriction and so finally the doctor after 6 months of complaining decides to withdraw some Fluid to see how much is in there. It's suppose to be 14cc but there's only 4cc and it's discolored. He just did a dye fill test yesterday and my tubing is leaking right at the port. He said he's had some cases where the port was defective. So they're checking with insurance now to see about replacing the port and tubing.
