Anything Goin on for Missourians?

Recommended Posts

I just read another post of yours and I just wanted to tell you I went to the WLC first. I was very disappointed with Dr. Nigro. I paid 150.00 for a consult and he didn't show up. There was a Nurse that weighed me and told me everything. Then I scheduled for the pre-op stuff and he didn't show up again. I should have gotten my money back but I didn't. Then because I am in the medical field I asked around about Dr. Nigro...he is a JERK according to two people that I found that knew him. Thank God I didn't have him do my surgery.

WOW thanks for the info.. luckily I canceled my appointment with them after talking to Darlene.. I just joined the forum over on his site, and I am excited to get the ball rolling with him and his staff. and that is a very good reminder about the tax deductible stuff.

Hey Missouri and Illinois!

I love my surgeon, Dr. Darrin Minkin. He works out of Des Peres Hospital. He did my band in July. He is very caring and willing to explain EVERYTHING!

WendyR, hello from Cape Girardeau, I'm working with Dr. Wagner's office. All I know is from his bio, but the credentials seem to be excellent. I still have to attend the seminar (1/18) and the psychological evaluation (2/1) before my consult with Dr. Wagner, but all the other paperwork has been done and insurance approved. If there's anyone else who has info/experience with Dr. Wagner I'd love to hear from you. Good luck Wendy.

Thank you guys! I just booked my flight to San Diego where I'll be picked up. Since the surgery is coming up so quickly, I'm on the pre-op diet now. So far, it sucks! I hate not having normal food! oh well, life goes on and I'll be looking and feeling better once all of this is done!

I'm back from Mexico and finally banded! Everything went well, and I was very pleased with the care I got in Tijuana. I'm just dealing with the liquid diet stage, and hoping time flies by so I can start eating solid food! :) Other than that, I'm just a little sore and taking it easy. I luckilly don't have a job to hurry back to so I can take it a little more time to recoup.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
