It's normal and you're just freaking out. This is a time for healing, not weight loss. Hang in there. The lap band is a process, not a quick fix. You're fine and right on schedule! :smile2:

I gained 5 pounds after surgery. Don't get dissapointed, it's totally normal. You retain Water and swell during surgery. You'll soon start to see the results. You need to heal now and not worry about the scale, it'll come. I was a little freaked too but I know there is no way I can't lose, I'm only drinking my calories!! Good Luck!!

I was banded on Friday also! At this point I am more worried about getting to mushies for food than losing weight. I am so tired and my port site suddenly has decided to become so sore!

I know how you feel, its there now I am gonna lose weight. And in time, shortly now, it will come. Relax and heal, we are doing great!

I too, was banded on Friday 7/24. I feel much better today.. but also started my period yesterday. My port site is still sore, and I have the gas pain in my shoulder that I read about. I am on liquids until Friday, then to mushies... can't wait. Anyone having problems going # 2? I

yes, Listen to da Monkeeeee! Right up there, above me...

It IS a process, not a destination. I'm a little surprised that they didn't go over "expectations" with you, and make you aware that there are no "absolutes". EVERYONE experiences this differently.

And Restless put it PERFECTLY: "This is a time for HEALING".

Don't even WORRY or THINK about weight loss right now. It will come. Just relax and enjoy your Pain meds.

My surgeon recommended a liquid stool softener. All the meds you were given likely bunged you up

Congrats on your surgery!

Yep, I gained about two pounds and now on day 4 post-op I am down about 6 lbs. I do expect that number to go up when I start on the next dietary phase, before it goes down.

I didn't have aissue going #2 but the first time i went i had a trashcan in my lap the threwup the entire time but it only happened that once.. So im sure everything is fine.. it would suprise me for a lil issues with your poo... I was constipated for like 3 days or so before i was able to go .. I took dulcolax and drank skim milk.. and apple juice, im lactose intollerant so i knew the milk would get things going....

I'm surprised by these posts, but totally understand the frustration. The first 4-6 weeks are for healing, not losing as has been posted before on this thread and nearly everywhere on LBT. It's not just lip service, it's true. My Dr told me to expect to GAIN weight for the first 6 weeks, not lose. Those expecations are realistic and readied me for the journey ahead.

The best advice I can give (although very hard for me to follow myself) is to put the scale away and don't get on it for at least 4 weeks. If you have the will to do that, you will be MUCH better off.

Good luck to all of you recently banded, you can do it!!

Yep --- retaining water! If you can, you should eat or drink (whatever your surgeon recommends). You don't want to dehydrate!

Your first job after surgery is to heal from it. I lost no weight after surgery for three weeks. But I knew that healing was the first job.

Do the post-surgery program. Don't cheat. You'll get where you want to go.

The thing with loosing wieght is not the daily number. It's what you weight after a year. Wow. Down 60 pounds? 120 pounds? That's what you look for.

Record what you eat. Follow the guidelines. You'll get there.

My average weight loss over a year was 1 pound a week. It took me roughly 70 weeks to lose 70 lbs.

Don't freak. You'll be fine.

You are good girl :juggle: I also after having almost 2 yr stint with NO cycle just got my period a few days after surgery. It was odd I almost forgot what to do in that situation since I have not had to deal with it for two years!

Between that and all the liquid I feel like a sow!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
