Hi  You will be fine with your tongue ring. I took mine out for a job interview that lasted 4 hours - and actually ended up putting it back the next day. I was just fine. I miss my tongue ring soo much. Had to take it out because my job involved a lot of client visits. good luck!!!!!!

I don't think you should return to work on Monday. I was up and walking around the day of surgery, and I even went for a 6 block walk the 2nd day after surgery, but I was SO tired afterwards. Its good to get up and move around as much as possible, but thats definitely different from actually going to work.

I didn't bring my ipod or reading materials to the hospital (I also stayed overnight). I was fine with just watching tv and sleeping (a lot!). When I woke up I tried to get up and walk around a lot.

I wore a sports bra out of the hospital the day after my surgery. While I was in the hospital of course, I didn't wear a bra, just the hospital gown and that was it. The band of the sports bra touched one of my smaller incisions (the small one right between the breasts) so I just put a small piece of gauze on the incision to cover it before I left the hospital. The incision itself didn't hurt at all, and it was covered by the strip my doc put on during surgery, but the gauze just made it so the actual bra didn't touch the incision. It wasn't a problem.

Your best bet is to just call your surgeon and ask specifically about post-op diet. I was on clear liquid for 3 days after surgery. I didn't have any clear Protein drinks. It was basically just broth, Water, a little tiny bit of Jello, etc. After that I started on the regular Protein Drinks (I use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and put it in my Magic Bullet).

Good luck!!

Hi Erin Congrats on your surg, i hope all went well!!

I have a small cleaning business and my duties are basically the same as yours in the church. i am now 6 days post op and i wouldnt want to return to work for a few more days. I get tired and dizzy if i do too much and my surgeon said no vac for about a month. I would just listen to the advice of your dr. and don't do too much too fast because you may feel fine on the outside but internally you are still healing.

good luck to you!

the gas pains hurt and the bigger incision hurts the most, it's so hard getting up out of bed hurts to cough ): but pillow does hurt, what does it feel like when you need to burp? I think i need to do that too but im scared to, I know I needa go #2 but I can't and I know that's what will make me feel better, would it be safe to take a stool softener since it's only day one?

my dr said it was ok to use something over the counter like Senokot , a natural vegetable laxative to help with Constipation. did they suggest anything you can use on your release forms? the pain meds usually will cause constipation.

i'm still having trouble sneezing, laughing. bending, burping without some discomfort. make sure you walk around to get that gas out of your body.

he didn't suggest anything, it does hurt to cough, wish I could lay on my side, atleast it's not hurting as much to get up, I. Could sleep better on the recliner than my bed, only prob is that my back hurts. I am walking as much as I can, the gas pains come back when I go to sit, how many days did it take your pains go away or when did your incisions stop hurting as much? I hope I don't gag when I brush my teeth, I wish week one was over ):

well today is day seven and i can sorta lay on my side for a little bit . the gas has subsided a bit and the gas-x strips really helped with that. my incisions are not sore, but my port site inside is very tender/painful still.

it gets easier every day. you'll be fine brushing your teeth. i'm more ravenous/hungry more than anything eating broth and Protein Shakes forever now...that is the worst part!

the gas x doesn't upset your stomach? The only insiccion that hurts is the biggest one but surprising it doesn't hurt as much anymore, I can get up easier, I wish it was day seven for me, I haven't had anything to eat since yesturday, I'm so scared it'll make me sick ahh

I have to say (about the bra) for me it kept the "girls" away from my surgical sites and was MUCH more comfortable than going without one! And it didn't (and still doesn't) touch any area that was cut....so thank GOD I had mine! It helped! We're all different....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
