Hello Everyone. I am so excited! My surgery is tomorrow! I am a bit nervous about the "liver" thing. I have really did good sticking to the all liquid diet. I have had absolutley no carbs and only a nibble of meat twice:frown:. I am so looking forward to starting my life over. Good luck to all. You are in my prayers, and I ask that I am in yours.

If you followed your preop diet, I'm sure you'll be fine. Surgery not performed because of a large liver does happen, but it's rare. AND I think it only happens when you, like I did, decide to do your "own" preop diet instead of the one the surgeon gives you! You'll be banded tomorrow!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. It has been extremely tough because I am a carb-oholic. No Pasta, no bread has caused me to have to pray harder and my family to duck and cover faster:lol:!

But you stuck it out! You'll be ready for the post op diet too (It too is hard, but it is limited. It will pass)

I love carbs too but with the band have found I tend to more dense foods now. Once I finally hit what my doc calls "the green zone" and what on here is called "the sweet spot" I've found dense Protein can keep me full for up to 6 hours, where as more processed carb foods don't do that; I get hungry MUCH faster. Since there is such a direct link...cause and effect is VERY obvious...it's easier for me to pick healthier things. :crying: You'll do well!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
