I have been banded for a year now! All is perfect until now!

My band is not tight at all, and i can eat small portions of food and not get stuck!

Recently in the past 3 weeks or so, when i am sleeping i wake up as if i was being chocked! I keep burping and swallow only salavia and a huge discomfort is felt not in my port but my throat!

Yesterday, i also woke up alarmed and forced myself to puke, and only saliva foam came out!

Remember this feeling i only have @ night when i am sleeping and wake up alarmed!

I cannot go to the doctor as i cannot afford him this month (he charges 150 USD) and i am self pay all the way, also if he wants me to have tests i cannot pay them..

Did anyone have the same issue, or knows anyone who has?

Thanks

Sounds like acid reflux to me, although I don't suffer with this myself (yet) I know others that do.

most get prescription drugs from their doctors (over here in the uk it is free to visit a doctor), however as you can't afford that go see a pharmacist for an over the counter remedy as there are lots available.

sleep propped up on lots of pillows or raise the top end of your bed. Avoid drinking or eating close to bedtime.

Hope you get some relief soon.

Sue

Yes I agree...it's acid reflux. You need to see your surgeon. Do it quickly because...a small unfill now may save you bigger headaches down the road. Don't wait! Call on Monday, get it fixed pronto.

You need to go to the doc. If you don't treat this the acid can erode your esophagus (you might have seen the ads on tv) If you don't want tests just get a small unfill. But this is part of being a responsible bandster...you need to take care of yourself and shouldn't let this go on. You'll pay more, eventually, if you ignore it now. Sorry!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
