Hi guys,

I have two questions: I am going for my second fill on Tuesday. My first one really hurt and it took him a while to find the port. It felt like he had a sword through my abd poking around for a few mins until he found it. I read on somebody else's post that they asked for a shot of local anesthetic. I want to, but don't want to look like a baby. Maybe the Dr. doesn't use it on anybody. I was sore for a couple days after the last and I am just nervous because my fill is at 11:30am and I have to work that day at 3pm. Should I just try again without it and maybe it won't be as painful this time?

I am also almost 6 weeks since banding. This past week, I've noticed how sore my abd is. Maybe it is because I went back to work which involves heavy lifting and using my abs a lot?? I'm feeling just as sore as I did a week or two out. Did anybody else experience this? I'll talk to the doc about it when I go on Tuesday...I was just wondering how long other people were sore. Not horrible pain~ just uncomfortable soreness. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks so much

My first fill I thought I was going to DIE..My doctor could not find my port and stabbed me many times with no pain meds. Next day I had to meet him at the image center to do it again. This time I asked for pain meds before I even let him touch me. He was very nice about it. And it helped so much. Just ask your doctor. Why should you be in pain?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
