I'm feeling very full without a fill

Recommended Posts

I'm feeling very full without a fill. Is that a sign of something being wrong? I'm 3 weeks out. It's kind of hard to get the fluids and protiens. I had a soft smashed potatoe, which is allowed and have been full all day. Is that normal?

I had my band placed on June 4th. Up until last week, I could only eat a very small amt of food at a time and would be full for hours. I just had my first fill last week. My nurse told me I probably carry my weight in my abd and would be able to eat more the more weight I lost. Hope this helps!!

p.s.- my dr. does fills under fluoroscopy and he said everything looked fine!!

Thanks, It does help. I was kind of worried because I was reading a dietary chart about bariatric surgery and it said I should only eat 2 tbl of food at a time, like pudding, but when I eat pudding i eat all of it. I don't recall my dr. telling me 2 tbl. I was wondering if I had stretched my pouch.

Thanks for the reply, it comforts me some. Also, all 275 lbs of me is my belly! Thank you.

Something to think about, just because your scheduled for your first fill does not mean that you have to get it. When you get off of mushies and start eating solids like chicken, pork and hard boiled eggs or even pita bread, these foods will satisfy you longer and you might lose weight for a while without a fill.

I am 4 month out and have not had a fill, I am losing and still able to eat all my favorite foods just less then I use to.

So when you get to solids, don't baby your band with mushies that will go straight through try solids that will stick with you longer. I love the fact that I still eat all my favorite foods!

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
