port hurt after eating????

Recommended Posts

It seems like directly after I eat I have soreness in my port area. I was banded 7/8/08, so I am really new at this and just started eating solids. Maybe it is in my head, I was just curious if that is normal????

Hi, did you mean 07/08/09? If it's 09, that feeling you have is correct, becasue you're only about 3 weeks post op so you will still feel that restriction feeling, give it about 2 more weeks then it'll probably be done wore off. Then you'll be like I was I need a feel. Hang in there it gets better.

I"m a year and a half out and I still get pain in my port area, but only if I overeat. It's strange because you would think the pain would be up high where the actual band is, but instead, my port area gets very tender if I overeat.

could it be because pressure in the inside ring of the band pushes the pressure all the way through to the end/port?

Oh I am SOOOOOOOO Glad you said this....I am only 2.5months out but I have had this really tender pain near my port incision twice and the only thing I could attribute it to was overeating *slaps herself on the hand*....

I felt it for the first time about a week ago when I was in the shower but thought I had just bent over wrong or something, but after having dinner tonight and feeling really full I now have the pain again...so it must be due to that.

make sense to me if you stretch your stomach out from over eating this will cause the muscles near the port site to move or stretch thus causing the stitches or whatever they use to pull on that muscle it is attached to...make sense to me. I am not an expert but *I stayed at a holiday in express last night*...lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
