You probably just need to build up your fills slowly little by little. Don't worry you will get there eventually, frustrating as it is.

same thing for me. What I understand - this is very "normal". Some people swell and some don't. Some swell right away (I do) and some do it later. they want it tight enough to control your pouch, but not so tight you can't eat/drink anything. So ---- it is a slow process.

My first fill was 3 cc's on July 3rd. wow - I could really FEEL the Water when I was drinking it. I was kind of scared - cuz I wasn't sure if it it was too tight or not. Dr. said it would loosen up. So I kept it as is, as I could drink liquids. He said I might need to be on liquids for a week. NOPE - by the next day, for sure 2 days out ----- I was back to no restriction. I was disappointed, but at the support group meeting the following week ---- all said it was normal and I probably wouldn't feel restriction until 6 or 7 cc's

I went back Friday 7/24 for my 2nd fill. He put in 2.5 cc's. wow! so I am drinking the Water. I took probably 4 or 5 sips and then - bam! I am sliming like crazy. My eyes got big and I was scoping for the trash can. At least now I know what sliming is! and for water! yep ---- too tight!

He took out .5 cc's and I was good to go. amazing what a difference such a small amount can make. I am now at 5 cc's total. they told me the "average" is 7 cc's to be in the sweet spot, but that everyone is different and to be patient as we learn to work with it and adjust.

sigh!

Paisleypea - That's good to know about the 7cc average. I just had 2cc added on Thursday for a total of 6cc. I can feel the difference between the original 4 and now the 6 but still not quite there. I'm hoping that the next fill will put me where I need to be to start losing again. I've been maintaining, but haven't lost any since the first fill.

Even at my last fill up to 8 cc I couldn't tell any difference with the Water at the doctor's office. I sipped it really slow. I could never tell until it was time to eat. I think that is so wonderful about our bands is that they are adjustable and we can make them work for us as things change.

Everybody reacts differently to fills, I've had 2, and ended up getting a slight un-fill after both because I was too tight. The first time he unfilled me so I was at 2 cc and I didn't feel any restriction at all, the second time he took me from 4 to 3 cc's and I feel A LOT of restriction, probably too much really, such a slight change made a huge difference for me. I was worried at the second un-fill that I was going to go back to no restriction again, but that certainly wasn't the case this time. I've even canceled a fill I had set up for last week, because there is no way I could deal with more restricion right now, which is something I never thought I would say in the beginning!

It's also been my experience (and others' as well) that sometimes fills take a week to "kick in." I don't know why this is and it doesn't even make sense to me, but that's what I've experienced. I felt really tight immediately after my first fill in April - I could feel it in my throat, even. But after I did my two days of liquids, I went back to eating solids and I thought I didn't have enough (any) restriction. Then a few days later, it "settled" and I was able to feel PLENTY of restriction and have been good since then.

The Water test is just one test. When you mention a specific food getting stuck, I have to ask, did you chew properly, or is spinach always a problem?

I've also heard that saying "I hate the Steelers" over and over again helps the food go down. :crying:

3 days, you must have been miserable. I have a piece of chicken, I'm not sure how long it would have taken, but I manage to get it back up, took me an hour, but it was a very long hour.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
