Surgery is on hold...ugh

Recommended Posts

After 6 months of monitored weight loss..losing 30+ lbs.and getting 4 days before surgery.. and getting a kick in the face..

I decided to call my Dr. office to make sure all the I's were dotted and T's were crossed.. they hadn't gotten insurance approval and my cardiologists didn't give the right paperwork!!

My cardiologist is on vacation until 8/3..so I can't get "clearance" from him until he gets back! and I can't have my surgery until 8/12 or 8/19 because they are booked!!! I am so frustrated with this process..

I feel like I was doing this for nothing... Then I took a deep breath, wiped the tears away and thought.. I was not supposed to have this surgery on that day for what ever reason. I am firm believer in "everything happens for a reason", so who ever is watching over my , must have not liked that date!!

I was very upset last night, then I really took a step back and realized I have more time to get my body ready for this life change..

I have had a lot of light-headedness , dizziness and nausea.. so my body must need some more time to adjust to this type of eating. ( I have been on 2 week pre-op , 2 shakes a day 1 meal a day eating) I guess I need more time.. someone must know better than me that's why my surgery was postponned...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
