Surgery tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Just keep remembering why you chose to be banded in the first place and be prepared. Everyone I have read about on this forum has felt the same way just before getting banded including me. It is normal to get cold feet and worry about anesthesia, etc. I had just gone through several surgeries and other health problems and was worried about it but I came out just fine. They will give you medication to help you with the pain and you will go home with some as well. Good Luck and let us know how you are doing when you feel up to it.

I was just banded Wednesday and had many of the same fears. I will give you the same advice that was given to me by a couple of people... WALK, WALK, WALK AND WALK SOME MORE!!! I haven't had hardly any pain except for the feeling like I've done two thousand situps soreness. It's worth it and once it's done and over you're on your way to onederland!! You can do this!

Feel free to message if you need support.

Glad to hear you're home and that all went well. I was banded three days ago and shared your feelings as well. I haven't had much discomfort so no needs for pain meds. I have walked around the house and gone up and down the stairs. Also walked around the yard. Didn't want the neighbors seeing me walk slowly, but tomorrow I plan on going outside for a nice walk. Its good that you are burping, all that air that was pumped into you will come out one end or another :smile2:. Today I took off the bandages and showered and felt great. Please come here and lets share our progress. Hugs

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
