Fibromyalgia, what are you taking for it now?

Recommended Posts

I have fibromyalgia, I can no longer take the anti-inflammatory, I was taking. I am wondering if anyone else out there has it and which medications are you allowed to take now. Thanks!

Did you discuss this with your banding doctor?

I found Lyrica worked very well for me except that it made me very hungry. Perhaps after banding I will try it again.

I have talked to my doctor about it but he just said i'd have to find something that wasn't an antiinflammatory because of ulcers. Also I did hear that Lyria did cause weight gain and since i'm already fighting that battle , i'm looking for something else.

My doc said I can take NSAIDS but have to be careful; that's why I asked. In that case, I'd talk to the physician who is treating your fibromyalgia. S/He'd know best what might work for you and if necessary can discuss with your banding surgeon. Good luck!

I take 200mg neurontin at night. I take a 50 mg tramadol, 2 x's/day, 1 mg klonopin (sp), and 20 mg lexapro for both depression and pain.

I tried Lyrica, but I had weight gain and short term memory loss.

Neurontin is a cousin to Lyrica. I don't have the endless muncies that I did w/Lyrica.

I also have Chronic Myofascial Pain (CMP) which causes me a lot of grief.

Also, I have a heated mattress pad. Sunbeam makes them. I get the best price on e-bay. The mattress pad is a lifesaver!

I've seen the neurologist and he agrees w/the meds that my PCM has me on.

Tramadol is a powerful NSAID. So it would be offlimits for the OP.

At one time I had success with Sam-e. You just have to buy a decent brand (ebay). My body got used to it over the years and it no longer works but it did for quite some time.

Antidepressants can help with the pain and also with letting you get some better sleep.< /p>

Actually it's not an NSAID. It's a synthetic opioid. It does nothing for swelling and doesn't cause bleeding in the stomach.

While I do not have Fibromyalgia, I have have been taking Cymbalta for my depression. It is also used to treat Fibromyalgia. I have had depression for years but this is the first medicine I feel that has actually helped me feel better.I use to be constantly tired, but now I feel so much better.

...not sure if that helps at all.
