Hey glad you're feeling good!

I'm feeling good, just came in from my second walk of the day. I'm able to walk for about 40 minutes at a time without even getting winded. I usually hold my hand over my port site so it doesn't get a lot of movement. Over all it's been a good experience. It's tough not eating when I know I can.

Good luck and hope everybody is doing well.

Stacy

I received my Lap Band on July 22. Talk about surgery scheduling. I was scheduled for 4pm, but didn't actually go in until 7:45pm. I had been fasting since 8:30pm the night before, I was so thirsty, although one nurse snuck me about 1/2 cup Water. :)

My doctor gave me an onQ pump. Saved my sanity! It administered a local anesthetic around the incision areas which kept my tummy numb. It ran out on Saturday, when I removed the catheter I never did experience any pain.

My worst side effect was gas, oh my! Walking was the only thing that could cure it. Now, I am just hungry all the time. My post-op appointment is on Monday, so I am hoping for good news. Tomorrow I have my first support group meeting and I am looking forward to that, getting to meet locals who are going through this too.

Hi All!

I was banded on the 23rd in Gainesville, FL. I've made/responded to just a few posts on this website so far, but it's been an awesome resource and support, just by reading what others have shared. I've also already made one local lapband friend, and that's just darn snappy. :-)

My surgery went well, though coming out of anesthesia was *not* my idea of a good time.. never had such an overwhelming feeling to pee, barf, and gag on dry mouth all at the same time.

I was outpatient. In at 7:30, surgery at 10, home by 2pm. I went back to work on the 29th, and have had a very tiresome week. My energy is low. Gas, I never thought I'd be so glad to have to be honest. My stomach feels so much better when some is released. I've done okay with the diet part, though I've had a bite of this or that, and regretted it right away, cuz it didn't feel good, not like food used to, even despite the fact that my band isn't filled yet.

So far, so good. I'm tracking my diet daily in a 3-month journal. I'm excited, and have plenty of support. I just had my post-op followup, and nothing but good news.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you better in our shared journeys.. makes it feel a little less..daunting.

~Sonia

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
