It hurts whenever I eat. Help?

Recommended Posts

I was banded 3/6/09. I've lost about 45 pounds, but I've been stalled the last few weeks. Last week, I started re-doing my laundry room, so I was doing some pretty intensive labor - sweaty, hot, etc. Well, when I stopped to take a break, I opted for a cheese snack and it hurt. I stopped then tried again in an hour or so - same thing. I've noticed that since that day, it hurts every time I eat. There's no PB, it just hurts like a mild stuck. It happens every time I eat Breakfast or lunch. By dinner, I'm ok. Anyone have this or know what it is?

Edit: I'm wondering ... could it be that I need a fill? I'm thinking maybe things that used to sit in the pouch are now passing through, and it hurts on the way down. Is that possible?

Are you getting enough Water in? Try getting 8-16 oz before you eat in the am. And no....fills don't really work that way, I don't think. You don't need to be "tighter" so it won't hurt. I think you just got hot sweaty dried out and need hydration...just a guess though. NOT a medical opinion! :cool2: But that would explain why in the am and lunch it hurts, by pm you're "ok"...because you drink and hydrate as you go through the day. So get going early on fluids (I love coffee but don't count it, ok? if you indulge. Have plain old water)

And of course call your doc if in doubt.

Well well.. it seems you were totally RIGHT!! I started drinking Water in large amounts earlier today, and by lunch time I was able to eat a whole can of tuna and an ounce of cheese with no pain. As a matter of fact, I was so excited to be eating "normally" that I might have eaten a little past full. But believe me the "stuffed" feeling was way better than the pain I had been having. I'll be more careful of course, but gosh darn it was good to eat lunch!!

Yay 4 water!! :cool2:

I am SO SO GLAD!!!! I asked my surgeon why sometimes restriction is so "psycho" and he said "mostly hydration" ...I had asked for another "friend" who posts on here and was just at her wit's end. It really changed her band life but I am always reluctant to put it out there...it's such an easy fix to such a nasty problem!

I am so glad it helped you! :cool2:

I start each day now with 16 oz of Water...BEFORE my coffee. My band is calm and docile all day long! I mean, it works, but it doesn't turn on me when I least expect it!

That is good to know about drinking more Water. The last couple of days I got up and ate breakfast first. I got that "stuck" feeling.

I used to get up, drink my Water, wait 30 mins and then eat breakfast. Water first from now on!!!

Water first in the AM AND throughout the day! :cool2: Makes a big difference, doesn't it?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
