I have the same issues as you do, Mine is difficult like yours on all 7 fills. Just get the lidocaine and let the Dr do what has to do to get the fill.......

Missy I'm in Kentucky too! I'm guessing that you are going to the Georgetown group though. I'm closer to Cincinnati so I'm with Dr. Curry. I don't feel too bad about that though because he lives in Kentucky too LOL

I am sorry you had so much trouble, BUT I am glad to hear I am not the only one!! My first fill (the only one so far) was HORRIBLE. This does not seem to be the norm but happens once in awhile. We just were the unlucky ones. My doctor had trouble finding the port (I had my surgery in Mexico, so he didn't do my surgery) and between the 2 numbing shots (which did not help me much) and him trying to find the port... I was poked atleast 9 times!!!!! I tried not to look, but my husband said he even broke 2 needles. This went on for about 30 -45 minutes. Then, my husband jumped up on the table (he had lapband surgery too) and it was one numbing shot (which he didnt even need) one poke and bam he was done in about 2 minutes. So, it is not the doctor at least not in my case. The doctor said my port is lower than most. The good news he did eventually get it in a give me a fill without xray, but I am so frightened to go again for the next one, hope I dont need one for awhile.

It is suppose to be just a little poke. I don't know about anyone else, but i have never had any isssues. The first fill was a little sore, but that was only because i was still sore from surgery. after that it has been no problem. also your port should never move, because they embedd it into your abd muscles. so i would get that one checked out.

Hi

I have had fill problems as well. The only person who is able to get to my port is the surgeon who put it in and he is only there one day a week. It is figured out now but for awhile i felt like a pin cushion every time I went in for a fill. I felt like everyone in the office including the receptionist was trying to find my port. Now I will only see the surgeon and he usually finds it pretty quick. Hopefully your will go smoother now as well. Good Luckily

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
