Hello everyone...well I'm going to do it!! After battling my weight all my life I am getting banded. No more yo yo dieting, time to take care of myself. I'm a little nervous, but excited too. Only a few weeks to go, I hope all goes well.

I was thrilled to find this site, very informative. Looking for support wherever I can find it. Bye for now.:D

Kitkat - I know exactly how you feel. I think almost everyone is in that same place. Or at least been there. My surgery is next friday. One week from today. I just want it done so I can start my new life. Good luck to you and keep posting.

I know the feeling of the yo yo dieting, much like you that's why I decided to get the band. I was banded on Wednesday morning and have felt pretty good over all. What they say about feeling like you've done a couple thousand situps is true. It's not bad pain just soreness. I've been up walking a lot trying to keep the gas pains at bay and so far haven't really had any.

I'm happy for you for making this choice it's not easy, from what I've read on here and as long as you are committed you'll do amazing.

Good luck!!!:D

Congratulations! I have my first appointment next week. I hope I'm approved by my doctor and my insurance company.

HI there,

It sounds like I'm at the same point as some of you. Yesterday was my first doctor's appointment and he is really working at getting me approved as my BMI is a bit under the cutoff. My orientation class is next month. From what others are saying it sounds like it takes a few months for the appointments you need before the actual surgery.

Good luck to you all,

Hot42

Hi Hot42, I hope it works out for you. I have the same problem you have. I'm a little under the 40BMI and I have some health issues. I really hope I'm approved. I'm only 4'11" so every pound really shows on me.

CHUBBYMEMAW-are you with Kaiser? Where are you in the process? Funny, I used to be almost 5' 2" and I shrunk and that raised my BMI. I'm only 42! Jeez.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
