Just another gross question?

Do you all feel like you have bad breath all the time?

Just when I diet I feel like I do.

How do you handle this other than the obvious flossing, brushing etc. Mints or what? Does it ever go away?

my bad breath is from ketosis (burning fat instead of carbs) which happens to me whenever i am doing a low carb diet. i have seen on this post however that the lack of acids in the pouch (that you have in the stomach) also can cause bad breath and an icky taste in your mouth.

i struggle with it and never really have found the perfect answer... i do like sugar free icebreaker mints... but really haven't found the best answer yet :[

i'm gonna keep reading this thread in the hopes of finding good ideas too... so thanks for posting it, and good luck!

The bad breath is definitely caused by the ketosis from eating a high Protein low carb diet. I hate it too! I get around it by chewing sugar free gum all the time, but I'm not banded yet, so I can do the gum.

Boy I sure do hate bad breath, as you all do I am sure; but, I am kind of fanatic about it. They say it comes from your stomach. I wonder if there are any dentists on here that could suggest something.

Introduce more healthy carbs into your diet. Too low carb is not good for you. I only eat complex carbs and nothing white (rice, potato, bread...ect) and I don't have a bad breath problem.

I drink a lot of Water but still have the problem. I live off Tic Tacs. I need to own stock in them. At home I am fine, but at work or anywhere else I have them on me.

I am sooo with you ALL on this one, constant bad breath and I live on tic tacs and mini altoids! The only thing I do think kinda works is chewing on mint leaves found in the produce section.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
