My Family Rocks!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just need to share how much I love my family.

I am being banded Aug 10 in Bakersfield, Ca. Sooo Excited. I have been working on better habits and such for the past 5 weeks or so and have lost 15 pounds of the 20 I needed to lose before having surgery. I start my liquid pre-op diet tomorrow. And, because my family rocks I am not doing it alone. My sweet hubby, one of my fab sisters and my darling grandma (who is 80) are all doing it with me. My sister and Grandma are doing liquids all day and then dinner. My hubby is going to try and go the whole way with me, we even cleaned all the food out of our semi truck today. They are all so sweet, trying to give me moral support and make sure I am not feeling all alone in this adventure.

As I am writing this I am sitting Dalton, Georgia eating Mongolian Beef and Steamed Vegy's w/ Brown rice for my final hurrah. I will be driving all day tomorrow (I am a long haul truck driver) and so I have got to get myself all prepped tonight. I am nervous, but excited. I hope that I can keep the will power. I have to go into truckstops everyday and they all have fast food places in them, or deli's or whatever and I have to keep myself from caving in moments of weakness.

I think I can, I think I can. . . I KNOW I CAN ! ! !

Hope you all have someone to support you too. It makes a huge difference.

My husband is just hoping that I don't turn into bitch wife from hell, and I am sooo crossing my fingers and toes that I don't either.

Congrats Tiffany. Pre op diet is hard. Day three is when I hit the wall. food addiction is tough. Its so worth it. Keep your hopes up and your loved ones close. Take one day at a time. I'm 43 days post op and still learning how this all works. It gets hard and then it gets better, I promise.

I have lots of family in California. My neices and nephew in law live in Bakersfield and my sister and brother in law live in Taft. Small world.

Hi, Tiffany;

That is a wonderful story. Having your whole family behind you almost ENSURES your success. I have a good feeling about this for you.

It is sometimes so difficult for family and even friends to get "on board" with things like this.

Especially spouses. I LOVE hearing when a spouse gets on board, and gives his/her full and complete support. If you want to read another success-story-in-the making, do a search here for "agnes", and read about her and her husband Erick. Agnes is getting the band, but Erick came here and got his own account, and has been asking questions about how best to support his wife through this. It's very touching!

So, best of luck in your process. You're off to a solid start....keep us all posted on everything that happens. :D

Awesome story Tiffany!! Thanks for sharing. I LOVE that your grandma is doing it. That is amazing! I'm on day five and agree with Julie..day 3 was when I hit the wall. Was sick yesterday with flu like symptoms but have good energy today and am not as hungry. Hoping this sticks!

Good luck with the driving and go go go!!

I am to be banded on the 10th also. Today I did all the cleaning out of my cabinets. My family all come home and asked where the food is? We are ALL eating healthier. On Monday I start my Low fat, Carb free diet. Sugar I did not even buy at the store today. Kids will go nuts. Fat free milk. But you know, they will think me in the end, cause I will teach them better eating habbits. Good luch on your journey, keep in touch.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
