Hello everyone,

My name is Phoebe and I was banded on 7/14/09. My initial weight was 226lbs. On my surgery date, after the liquid diet, I was 218. Now I am 215. My surgeon is Dr. Oliver Whipple in Savannah GA. He has been great so far. THere were no complications during surgery. I am 26 years old, an army wife, a mother of a seven year old, and a student nurse.

Hello Phoebe! I was just banded on 7/7/09. This site is very new to me and I am still getting used to it. Congratulations on the weight loss so far and I look forward to seeing your results! I am currently living in Delaware but plan on moving to Georgia in the very near future with my family. Good luck and best wishes to you on your journey.

Hi Crystal,

Be ready to be hot all the time in GA (and I don't mean pretty) How has your recovery been? My has been pretty uncomfortable so far. I am looking foward to starting finely chopped foods Tuesday. I am so sick of Protein Drinks.< /p>

I am looking forward to being HOT (as in temp. wise) and HOT as in pretty lol! My recovery is going very well. I have had no pain so therefore did not need to use any pain medication. My doctor recommends a liquid diet for 4 weeks...so in 2 weeks I will start my pureed food. I am looking forward to it but at the same time a little nervous because I don't want to get stuck or get too full...things like that! I am getting a little tired of Protein Drinks as well but I get full from them and I like that part!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
