JulsJourney 3 Posted July 23, 2009 I have had my band for five months now. I am 40 pounds down, with about 60 to go. I went to my doctor's support group meeting right after surgery, and met a woman who had her band put in the same day as me. We started talking and it now has expanded to a four bander group. We met last night over a nice dinner, and shared triumphs, tragedies and food tips. I cannot recommend this enough to any of you starting out! It is a great way to stay focused, and to ask some silly questions that you might not want to bring up to your doctor!
heartfire 4 Posted July 24, 2009 CONGRATULATIONS!!! I think it's wonderful that you've found/formed your own support group! Kudos to all of you! Continue to be the best support you can for each other. I have found a few bandsters in my general area but I'm an hour out from them. I get most of my support from here (other than my family). There is a woman in my Bunco group that will be using my surgeon for her bypass surgery, so there is that! But banding is different and sometimes we just can't equate our experiences with others. Take good care of yourself and your new support group! Best wishes!
