I got a call this morning from the surgeon's office saying that the anesthesiologist isn't comfortable doing surgery due to the results of my stress test. All my other cardio testing came back fine. I now have to go back for more testing to get the cardio clearance the hospital requires. My surgery for the 27th is officially canceled. I'm so disappointed and frustrated. Looks like I may be leaving the July Freedom Fighters for the August group, no offense Augusters but I was ready for this to happen:crying:

That was my main concern. when i did mine i weighted 324 pounds. but i had lost 30 by the time i has my test. that help a lot.i had to do the treadmill test.which was my first time ever on one. i had to do the heart test. hang in there, it will happen.i had to wait 4 months before my surgery. at first i was so mad but everything happens for a reason. good luck.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. When they did my stress test I didn't have to use the treadmill, it was such a strange feeling when they injected whatever it was to make my heart go crazy lol! I know it happens for a reason, I guess I just needed to hear that. Thank you

Hang in there! I also had to cancell my surgery TWICE! Plus I had to save my money for it myself which took two years. It will just be that much sweeter when you get it. I know how upsetting it is though. Just keep posting here and keep getting yourself ready. I had a lot of prep time and think it really helped me know exactly what to expect. Take care!

It IS a good thing!

You really want everyone to be on board with the procedure, including the "sleep guy".

Of course you want the surgery, but you also want to be SAFE during it. Having more tests will simply allow all concerned to make the proper preparations, and do everything they need to do to ensure a very positive outcome.

So, relax, and use this time to prepare yourself for the life-changes that are going to occur when you DO have the surgery!

Best of luck!

HH

Headhunter has it right!

As disappointing as I'm sure it is, keep in mind that it is for your own safety. Dying on the OR table isn't one of those things they have to tell you legally but doesn't really happen...it does!!! Every decision they have made has been to keep you safe, so kudos for the anesthesiologist for making a hard decision in favor of your health.

I am one of those people that believe with my whole heart that everything really does happen, even if it sucks  Take this time to try to collect your thoughts and feelings, continue to try to loose weight on your own in the meantime, and surgery will be here before you realize it.

Thanks to everyone for their support. It's appreciated and I'm getting over my terrible disappointment and trying to look ahead again. My LapBand journey has been fast and smooth unlike other horror stories I've heard so I'm lucky. Another round of tests isn't so bad, I just needed to throw my tantrum and pick myself back up.

Again thanks bunches!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
