grit your teeth and hang in there. Call your doc tomorrow and ask if you can advance, but don't eat anything not approved until/unless you get the "all clear".

Many of us are starved during the first few weeks of the post op diets; you're not alone, you're not odd, and you can make it.

Hang in there, the first two weeks are the worst. If you can stick with this you can make your goal. Don't give up! If you are starving you need more Protein. Drink some Isopure or try Special K protein Water. Once you can have Protein Shakes and mushies it gets easier. Go for a walk and get your mind off the hunger or just go to bed.

@ OP

OMG! We got banded the same day! *hugs* Hang in there, I know what you're going though. The sugar free popsicles help alot though. I've been blending Soups, and that's been going pretty well.

You are on full liquids, right?? No reason for you to be hungry! Go and buy some turkey chili from a Soup place (or some other hearty soup) and put it in a blender with some chicken broth to thin it out a little. You can use Greek yogurt (I like the Fage brand) as sour cream. Yum!

You do not need to go hungry during this period -- time to start finding some Soups that you like! One thing I will say is that . . if you put hot Soup in a blender, REMEMBER NOT TO CLOSE THE TOP ALL OF THE WAY, or it will pop off and splatter hot soup everywhere.

I have some good soup recipes on my blog -- the Mexican chicken one with cheese is really good, and you can blend it before eating.

Hang in there!

Catherine

I totally second Cathrine,

if you are on full liquids you shouldnt starve yourself. Blend hartey soups! It helps so much! I like to blend cream of potato with extra skim milk to make it thin enough to qualify as a liquid. I also do Beans with beef broth blended. Cottage cheese blended with skim milk is yummy and so is skim milk blended with a handfull of cherrios and half a banana. Get creative! If you do this you should kill those hunger pains. Now the head hunger I cant help you with!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
