Vomiting, pain, acid reflux, uncontrollable PBing?

Recommended Posts

For the last month I have been suffering from chronic acid reflux, followed by a week of vomiting every morning and PBing after every meal, and then 2 days of not keeping anything down (including water). I should have gone in to get a de-fill straight away but circumstances made it tricky and I kept putting it off- if I could be talking about you then don't do what I did! I had a de-fill in the emergency department at the local hospital last night and was cured almost instantly!!! I have had a day of normal meals and drinks (for a bandster) and can't believe how good I feel. In fact I have only just realised how bad I was feeling previously. I can only admit to myself now, that secretly I was continuing with it because I was losing weight. However I have come to the realisation that due to my condition I was only eating "easy" foods- ice cream etc. and now that I can eat three proper bandster meals a day, I will be less tempted by "easy" foods and will continue to lose weight (or so I hope- I'll get back to you")

I am glad you went in and got an unfill. Being overfilled to the point that you were can not only cause problems with your band, such as slippage, but can also cause significant health problems.

Same thing happened to me. I had to go in and have all my Fluid taken out on July 16th. I didn't want to because I was losing weight but I knew something wasn't right and needed to go. I too felt good instantly. In fact we left for vacation the next day and I was so glad I went in because I would have been miserable as would my husband because it's not fun eating with someone who "does the dance" after one bite. I started eating the easy foods too because it would go down easier but nothing easy is healthy. I go back to the doctor on Friday.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
