I've mentioned here before that my current goal is a somewhat Arbitrary one based on how I felt when I last weighed that. I have a real chance of making that goal soon. To get to a normal BMI of 24.9 I would have to lose another 10-12 pounds. So I've done more reading about BMI and it does say that it is an estimate and to consider other factors.

One factor was for males a waist line of over 40" is risky. I'm 36"

High blood pressure - Mine's now normal

High Sugar, HDL, LDL levels are also factors.

I'm finally normal in all of those. I think when I reach the goal, I am going to leave it there, and make sure I don't go above. That will especially be hard this winter. Next year, I plan on stepping up the running to a higher level and we will see what happens from there.

I think if you are comfortable, and your health numbers are good, your goal should be what YOU want it be! Congratulations on your success. I can't wait to get there too!!!

I think your are right, thanks. I think once reaching the goal I am going to work on losing a little more gut via exercise. Its far better than it was, but clearly the thing on my body that looks the most like an overweight area. If toning that up changes my weight one way or another so be it. But I think I will try to stay below 200.

Remember too BillOH the amount of muscle you've put on with all your exercise and running. BMI charts don't take that into consideration. You might consider seeing a sports medicine Dr and asking his opinion. Sounds like you've done an incredible job!

A very good point.

The whole BMI "thing" is a little misleading. A Sports Med Dr can give you a much better idea of what would be right for you, particularly in light of of your interest in physical activity.

Also, goals of ANY kind need to be revisited on occasion. What worked for you in your life last year will not neccessarily be right for you THIS year.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
