Sarah.R 2 Posted July 22, 2009 Like always before surgery. The pill only has like a 99% success rate. So hey go ahead but if you get preggers you know you were the 1%
ThePoolGirl 1 Posted July 22, 2009 OMG! I can't believe we've gone 5 pages on this! However: I really like this forum. I've found some great info and learned some new stuff - about LapBands. However, I don't think I would leave a "LIFE" (as in new, baby life) and death question to people I've never met. Why pay insurance premiums if you can't ask your healthcare provider questions such as these? And I agree with the poster who mentioned that she questioned why you would even take a chance on getting pregnant so soon after being banded. The people on here are great, but to rely on them for this kind of advice....hmm...don't think I'd stake my future on it. Happy Banding, TPG I'm still looking for my chicken and weedeater. My word of the day is snarky and I'm sticking to it. May tomorrow bring us a new page from the Tales of the Kama Sutra . TPG
BethFromVA 5 Posted July 22, 2009 I'm just getting more and more baffled by the questions. I hope it's just the wording...
Brandy~ 2 Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) Ok so I totally forgot who said what because well after 2 glasses of wine I am laughing my ASS off. OP You need more than the lapband you need to seek a doctors help. I think you're in the wrong place to be asking questions like this. Everyone might be 'nice' but were not paid medical staff. Even the nurses should be directing you to seek medical help... along with always practicing safe sex even on BCP with a boyfriend. ANYONE at anytime can give you an STD even when you're 'exclusive' ... You you realize how many have std's that dont know it!>!>!>!>!! They go years without a breakout or an incling of wtf is happening to them or their body... not only that they are too embarassed to say something and don't realize it's something thats for life. For F Sake take control of your life. I don't give a crap if you dated him for 3 years.. Pregnancy is the last of your worries as theres a ton of people that would love to be able to have a baby... Your question makes me wanna donate every cent I have to std awareness. Can I get you a ticket to africa so you can see the effects? Everyone else you totally crack me up. It's absolutely 100% ok to make light of it. It's hillarious and through laughter and joy we learn alot. I don't mean to attack the OP but without pointing out the issues we do not learn the errors of our ways. I will make an oral thread because I was wondering if Patty green was interested in discussing how Jesus was a load that possibly should have been swallowed? echokitty32 6 Posted July 22, 2009 Most BCP's work best if taken at the same time everyday. Missing that time even by a few hour's can disrupt the effectiveness of the pill. Especially if it is a low dose prescription. One of the reason's for this is because the pill fools your body into thinking it's already pregnant. So NO you are not protected from pregnancy. Like other's before me have already said, use protection. Or just give your body a few days to fully recover, sometimes its better if you wait a few days. If you dont trust me on the pill info, ask your pharmacist or doctor, they can verify it.

SkyPrincess 0 Posted July 22, 2009 I was told by my surgeon that after lap band, birth control pills would not be as effective, so I should not rely on them. Has anyone else received this advice? I am seeing my OBGYN next week.
CarlinsMom 0 Posted July 22, 2009 I think most DR give you antibotics during or right after surgery through the IV to protection you from getting infections. You could have had antibotics and not even know it. I was only aware that they gave me a strong dose of antibotics because I developed thrush in my mouth. I went back for my one week follow up appt and asked WTH is going on with my mouth. They then told me that its the antibiocs we gave you. Needless to say I was suprised but glad they did. In this situation....better safe than sorry!
Gone4Now 4 Posted July 22, 2009 Someone please start a thread about oral sex and the band, I need something to liven up my day at work tomorrow. I think there is one... I will make an oral thread because I was wondering if Patty green was interested in discussing how Jesus was a load that possibly should have been swallowed? Holy Load, Batman. On the oral sex thread----there is a Protein involved.......but is it a slider??? My morning is complete.
BethFromVA 5 Posted July 22, 2009 God you all are too funny! thanks for breaking up a boring night at work!! And BIll a few months somewhere in the powder room i swear i saw a thread about the band and oral!!!LMAO Was it the one where the chick said her boyfriend was really well endowed, and she wondered when she did oral on him, if he might get it stuck in her band? Or was it the other one with another chick with a very well endowed guy worrying he'd hit it during oral and cause slippage? Or the other dingbat that wondered if the band worked like a cervical ring?
luluc 6 Posted July 22, 2009 Was it the one where the chick said her boyfriend was really well endowed, and she wondered when she did oral on him, if he might get it stuck in her band? Or was it the other one with another chick with a very well endowed guy worrying he'd hit it during oral and cause slippage? Or the other dingbat that wondered if the band worked like a cervical ring? either of the 3 were a great read.!. skyprincess - i never heard that the pill is no longer effective after the band, i bet your OB will get a giggle out of that one. what my surgeon suggests is maybe 2 forms a birth control early out after surgery (antibiotics countering the pill & such). but after that - pill is fine. he's not a fan of getting you getting pregnant early out. .....i read here that some had to sign a waiver that they will NOT get preggo during the weightloss stage - that's a bit overkill if you ask me. Shoot, if that really worked, I'd say implement it in our nation's junior and high schools! PRONTO!
